Thirst is an internal stimuli which notifies an individual on the decreased amount of water in the body. This stimuli arises when the amount of water in the body cells has decreased beyond a certain level. This usually occurs after sweating since there is increased loss of water from the body which needs to be replaced.

The required moles of water and anhydrous salt in the given reaction is 0.06 moles.

What is the relation between mass & moles?

Relation between the mass and moles of any substance will be represented as:

n = W/M, where

 • W = given mass
 • M = molar mass

From the given data, mass of left water will be calculated by substracting the mass of CuSO₄ from the anhydrous salt as:

 • Mass of Left water = 1.6 - 0.5 = 1.1 g
 • Moles of left water = 1.1g / 18g/mol = 0.06 moles

Chemical reaction will be represented as:

CuSO₄.XH₂O → CuSO₄ + XH₂O

From the stoichiometry of the reaction it is clear that 0.06 moles of water is produced from 0.06 moles of anhydrous compound.

Ratio of the moles of water to salt = 0.06 / 0.06 = 1

So name of the compound CuSO₄.H₂O is copper sulfate monohydrate.

Hence, 0.06 moles of water as well as anhydrous compound is involved in the reaction and name of the obtained compound is copper sulfate monohydrate.
