One problem resulting from urban areas growing is that family-farms are being sold out, and that affects the communities around it. And second, it affects the natural enviorment with pollution, no matter how many laws there are. Take L.A. for example, at times it can be very smogging. You see it in the sky but not many people speak out against it. It proabably was once a little town too.
