Answer:

The probability of selecting a martian at random that has not completed 4 or more years is 0.74

Step-by-step explanation:

Hello!

You have the information about the level of studies reached by 171 martians aged 25 and over. (see table in attachment)

Using that information you have to calculate the probability of selecting a martian at random and has not completed 4 or more years, this means that the selected martian could have studied "less than 4 years of high school" or "only 4 years of high school" or "less than 4 years of college"

Be "A" the event "the martian has studied 4 or more years of college"

Its probability is calculated as: P(4.or.more.years)= \frac{total"4 or more"}{n} = \frac{44}{171} = 0.257= 0.26

The complement of A will be A^c  and it's probability is calculated as:

P(A^c)= 1 - P(A)= 1 - 0.26= 0.74

The probability of selecting a martian at random that has not completed 4 or more years is 0.74

I hope this helps!

Solve the following equation: 8x^2 = 2x
Rzqust [24]

Answer:

x = 0, x = \frac{1}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

8x² = 2x ( subtract 2x from both sides )

8x² - 2x = 0 ( factor out 2x from each term )

2x(4x - 1) = 0 ← in factored form

Equate each factor to zero and solve for x

2x = 0 ⇒ x = 0

4x - 1 = 0 ⇒ 4x = 1 ⇒ x = \frac{1}{4}

A sequence is defined recursively using the equation f(n + 1) = f(n) – 8. If f(1) = 100, what is f(6)?
BARSIC [14]
If the sequence f is defined as

\mathsf{f(n+1)=f(n)-8}

then

\mathsf{f(n+1)-f(n)=-8}

As you can see above, the difference between two consecutive terms gives us a constant.

So f is actually an arithmetic progression (AP), and it has (– 8) as its common difference:

\mathsf{f(n)=f(1)+(n-1)\cdot d}\\\\ \textsf{where }\mathsf{d=-8.}

•   If f(1) = 100, then

\mathsf{f(6)=f(1)+(6-1)\cdot (-8)}\\\\ \mathsf{f(6)=100+5\cdot (-8)}\\\\ \mathsf{f(6)=100-40}\\\\ \boxed{\begin{array}{l} \mathsf{f(6)=60} \end{array}}\qquad\checkmark

If mJK=(7x-39) and mML)=87, find x
lilavasa [31]
If two chords of a circle are congruent, then their intercepted arcs are congruent
7x-39 = 87
7x = 87 + 39
7x = 126
x = 126/7
x = 18
