Impulse=(force) x (time of the force)

Also ...

Impulse = change in momentum of the body that got hit by the impulse

For this question, you don't know the force during the bounce off the wall OR how long it lasted. This is a pretty good indication that the first formula for the impulse won't be very useful. So you'll have to use the second one ... change in momentum of the ball before and after the impulse. (Remember: momentum = m•v, and v has direction).

Initial momentum = mv = (2kg)(6m/s) = 12 kg-m/s away from you.

Final momentum = (2kg)(4 m/s) back = 8 kg-m/s toward you.

Change in momentum = 20 kg-m/s toward you. THAT'S the impulse that the wall delivered to the ball.

Anettt [7]

Answer:

f=145.29Hz

Explanation:

The centripetal force is given by:

F_c=ma_c(1)

Here m is the body's mass in which the force is acting and a_c is the centripetal acceleration:

a_c=\frac{v^2}{r}(2)

Here v is the speed of the body and r its radius. The speed is given by:

v=2\pi fr(3)

Replacing (3) in (2):

a_c=4\pi^2f^2r(4)

Replacing (4) in (1) and solving for f:

F_c=m4\pi^2 f^2r\\\\f=\sqrt{\frac{F_c}{4m\pi^2r}}\\f=\sqrt{\frac{4*10^{-11}N}{4(3*10^{-16}kg)\pi^2(16*10^{-2}m)}}\\f=145.29Hz

When a liquid is introduced into the air space between the lens and the plate in a Newton's-rings apparatus, the diameter of the
Leviafan [203]

Answer:

n_l=1.58

Explanation:

Newton's ring equation relates the initial and final diameter of the ring, to the index of refraction of the air and the index of refraction of the liquid between the lens and the plates, as follows:

n_ld_f^2=n_ad_i^2

Solving for :

n_l=n_a\frac{d_i^2}{d_f^2}\\

Recall that the refractive index of the air is 1. So, replacing the given diameters:

n_l=\frac{(1.52cm)^2}{(1.21cm)^2}\\\\n_l=1.58
