Answer:

10 minutes

Step-by-step explanation:

Adam- 3 mph = 20 minutes a mile

Amy- 12 mph = 5 minutes a mile

Adam left 30 minutes prior to Amy so he is a mile and a half ahead before amy even starts.

30 minutes = 1.5 miles (Adam)

7.5 minutes = 1.5 miles (Amy)

but with this being said you have to continue to add time and miles to Adam because he's now gone an extra 7.5 minutes too.

45 minutes = 2.25 miles

15 minues = 3 miles

no youre too far and Amy is now further so we have to go back some

40 minutes = 2 miles

10 minutes = 2 miles

With all this being said Amy only needs to ride her bike for 10 minutes before she catches back up to Adam

Mark says that the number square root two is irrational number because he can write it as a fraction square root two over one is
Elan Coil [88]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A rational number are numbers that can be expressed as as fraction. They can be expressed as a ratio of two integers. An irrational is quite the opposite.  An irrational number cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers.

Taking square root of two as an example;

√2 cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers because the result will always be a decimal. If expressed as √2/1, it is still not a rational number because of the square root of 2 at the numerator. Square root of 2 is not an integer even though 1 is an integer.

Mark is wrong because √2 is irrational and it is irrational because it cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers <em>not due to the fact that he can write it as a fraction.</em>

Difficult pre calculus stuff.
leva [86]

When we divide complex numbers we divide their magnitudes and subtract their angles, so this isn't all that difficult:

\dfrac{10(\cos 45^\circ + i \sin 45^\circ)}{5 (\cos 15^\circ + i \sin 15^\circ)} = \dfrac{10}{5} (\cos(45^\circ - 15^\circ) + i \sin(45^\circ - 15^\circ))

= 2(\cos 30^\circ + i \sin 30^\circ)

Answer: 2(\cos 30^\circ + i \sin 30^\circ)

That's probably what's called simplified polar form until you get to Euler's Formula.   Since it's 30 degrees we can get a nice rectangular form:

2(\cos 30^\circ + i \sin 30^\circ) = 2\left( \dfrac{\sqrt{3}}{2} + i \dfrac 1 2 \right) = \sqrt{3} + i

What is the center of MN given M(3, -1) and N(7,-5)
Neko [114]

Answer:

(5, -3)

Step-by-step explanation:

So the center of the two points, or a line can be defined using the equation: midpoint=(\frac{x_2+x_1}{2}, \frac{y_2+y_1}{2}). So using the two points you gave, you simply plug the values in to get

midpoint=(\frac{3+7}{2}, \frac{-1+(-5)}{2})\\

Add numerators:

midpoint=(\frac{10}{2}, \frac{-6}{2})

Simplify fraction:

midpoint=(5, -3)
