Ok so the slope of the 2 lines must multiply to -1

first find the given slope of the line

y=mx+b
m=slope
y=4x+1
4=slope
4 times what=-1
-1/4

y=-1/4x+b is form (A)
or
8y=-2x+4b (D)
or
1/4x+y=b
or
x+4y=4b (C)

we see that option B is wrong

amswer is B

We are asked to determine the equation of the line that is perpendicular to line y = 4x + 1. in this case, the slope is equal to 4. hence the perpendicular should be equal to the negative reciprocal of the slope. the slope of the perpendiculr line should be -1/4. The possible equations could be A, C and D. hence answer is B

Note that the side adjacent to angle XYZ is given (6 cm) and that the hypo is also given (15 cm).  Thus, cos XYZ = adj / hyp = 6 cm / 15 cm  = 2/5 = 0.4.

XYZ is then  arc cos 0.4.  Use the arccos function on your calculator to determine XYZ and give XYZ in both degrees and radians.

The average student loan debt for college graduates is $25,150.
Aleks04 [339]

Using the normal distribution, it is found that:

a) X \approx N(25150, 12050)

b) There is a 0.5859 = 58.59% probability that the college graduate has between $14,200 and $33,950 in student loan debt.

c) Low: $23,519.65, High: $26,580.35.

<h3>Normal Probability Distribution</h3>

The z-score of a measure X of a normally distributed variable with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

  • The z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is above or below the mean.
  • Looking at the z-score table, the p-value associated with this z-score is found, which is the percentile of X.

The mean and the standard deviation are given, respectively, by:

\mu = 25150, \sigma = 12050.

Hence the distribution of X can be described as follows:

X \approx N(25150, 12050)

The probability that the college graduate has between $14,200 and $33,950 in student loan debt is the <u>p-value of Z when X = 33950 subtracted by the p-value of Z when X = 14200</u>, hence:

X = 33950:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{33950 - 25150}{12050}

Z = 0.73

Z = 0.73 has a p-value of 0.7673.

X = 14200:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

Z = \frac{14200 - 25150}{12050}

Z = -0.91

Z = -0.91 has a p-value of 0.1814.

0.7673 - 0.1814 = 0.5859.

There is a 0.5859 = 58.59% probability that the college graduate has between $14,200 and $33,950 in student loan debt.

Considering the symmetry of the normal distribution, the middle 10% is between the 45th percentile(X when Z = -0.127) and the 55th percentile(X when Z = 0.127), hence:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

-0.127 = \frac{X - 25150}{12050}

X - 25150 = -0.127(12050)

X = $23,519.65.

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

0.127 = \frac{X - 25150}{12050}

X - 25150 = 0.127(12050)

X = $26,580.35.

Two lines, C and D, are represented by the equations given below:
lys-0071 [83]
Bought lines need to pass same point, so:

x+12 = y    =    y = 3x+2
x+12=3x+2     |-2
x+10=3x         |-x
10=2x             |/2
5=x
x+12 = y   => 5+12 = y =>y = 17

(x,y) => (5,17)

The ratio of pants to shots that John has is 3:7. If John has 12 pairs of pants then how many pants and shorts does he have?
madam [21]

Answer:

John has 12 pairs of pants and 28 pairs of shorts.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the ratio of pants to shorts that John has is 3: 7, if John has 12 pairs of pants, to determine then how many pants and shorts does he have the following calculation must be performed:

(12/3) x 7 = X

4 x 7 = X

28 = X

Therefore, John has 12 pairs of pants and 28 pairs of shorts.
