A signal from the nervous system that is sent from the brain to the hand would follow a different pathway than a signal sent from the hand to the brain.
The nervous system which is a complex network of specialized cells that sends signals from a part of the body to another, signals could be either chemical release or the electrochemical waves travel from different parts.
A neural pathway joins the one part of the region to another of the nervous system with the help of the tracts. Tracts are the bundle of the axons. Signals that are sent from the brain to hand is almost the same as it follows the same pathway for most of the part.
The Autonomic nervous system has to do with the "fight or flight" and "rest and digest" branches. It has to do with increased heart rate, butterflies in the stomach, etc.
