What is the positive ion of calcium and nitrogen

Chemistry

Calcium, which is in Period 2 and has 2 valence electrons, has an ion of Ca 2+

This is because it can give up the two electrons to get a full outer shell.

Nitrogen, on the other hand, has 5 valence electrons. To get a full outer shell, it can either gain 3 electrons or lose 5. Since it is easier to gain 3, Nitrogen usually gains 3 electrons to form a N3- ion.

Even though it is rare, it is possible for Nitrogen to form a positive ion, which is N5+

Hope I helped!! xx

the formula of calcium oxide is CaO. What is the formula of the ionic compound containing calium abd sulfate ions
sineoko [7]

Answer:

CaS

Explanation:

Hello!

In this case, since calcium's oxidation state when forming ionic bonds is +2 and sulfur's oxidation state when bonding those bonds is -2, for the required formula we write:

Ca^{2+}S^{2-}

Now, since they have the same charge number, we infer the ionic compound formed when they bond is calcium sulfide:

CaS

Best regards!

fenix001 [56]

Answer:

0.34

Explanation:

Cu>>>Cu2+(oxidation number increases)[Oxidation occurs]

Ag+>>>Ag(Oxidation number decreases) [Reduction occurs]
