A fairground ride spins its occupants inside a flying saucer-shaped container. If the horizontal circular path the riders follow

has a 7.80 m radius, at how many revolutions per minute will the riders be subjected to a centripetal acceleration 1.60 times that due to gravity? (You do not need to enter any units.)

Answer:N=13.53 rpm

Explanation:

Given

radius r=7.80 m

Centripetal acceleration a_c=1.6 g

and centripetal acceleration a_c=\omega ^2r

where \omega =angular\ velocity

1.6\times 9.8=\omega ^2\times 7.8

\omega ^2=2.0102

\omega =1.417 rad/s

and  \omega =\frac{2\pi \cdot N}{60}

1.417\times 60=2\pi \cdot N

N=13.53 rpm

A bicycle is heading west. It goes 5000m in 500s. What is its velocity?
djverab [1.8K]
The velocity is 10m/s because velocity is calculated by dividing time from displacement so 5000 divided by 500 is 10.

A car moved 60 km East and 90 km West. What is the displacement? help me
galina1969 [7]

assume the east-west direction along the x-axis such that east lies in positive x-direction and west lie in negative Y-direction.

In unit-vector notation , individual displacement can be represented as

A = displacement of car in east direction = 60 i

B = displacement of car in west direction = - 90 i

D = total displacement of the car

Total displacement of the car is given as

D = A + B

inserting the values

D = 60 i + (- 90 i)

D = - 30 i

negative sign indicates the direction in west

hence net displacement is 30 km in west direction
