A power cycle operates between hot and cold reservoirs at 600 K and 300 K, respectively. At steady state the cycle develops a po

wer output of 0.3 MW while receiving energy by heat transfer from the hot reservoir at the rate of 1 MW. Determine the thermal efficiency and the rate at which energy is rejected by heat transfer to the cold reservoir, in MW for the following.
(a) The power cycle and conditions above.
(b) A reversible power cycle operating between the reservoirs and receiving the same rate of heat transfer from the hot reservoir as in part (a).

The electrical energy that moves through a surge protector is 1.8 kilowatt-hours. How many watts of power will the surge protect
11Alexandr11 [23.1K]
The surge protector doesn't use energy. The current that carries Energy may pass through it but a good surge protector won't consume any of that energy. It'll just pass through the surge protector. The current that carrys the energy passes through it to be used by devices further on down the line, such as a toaster or a welder. If those devices are using 1.8 kilowatts of power, then that means that 6,480,000 Joules of energy pass through the surge protector in one hour. They all come out the other end and keep going.

Which function is decreasing?
tangare [24]
The function which is decreasing is C. <span>Air pressure in the earths atmosphere as a function of altitude.
The higher you go, the less air pressure there is because of the fewer air molecules at such altitudes.
This means that the remaining functions are either constant or increasing. </span>

Jennifer, who has a mass of 50.0 kg, is riding at 35.0 m/s in her red sports car when she must suddenly slam on the brakes to av
Assoli18 [71]

Answer:

Average force = 3.5 kN

Explanation:

Given:

Mass of Jennifer (m) = 50 kg

Initial velocity = 35 m/s

Time taken to stop body = 0.5 s

Find:

Average force

Computation:

v = u + at

0 = 35 + a(0.5)

Acceleration (a) =  - 70 m/s² = 70 m/s²

Average force = ma

Average force = (50(70)

Average force = 3500 N

Average force = 3.5 kN
