The cadmium exposure is toxic for the human beings. Cadmium can acts as tetratogen and affects the fetus. Excess cadmium in the body creates flu like situation in the adult and cause high damage to the lungs. Cadmium is also responsible for the cancer formation in human beings.
Acute exposure of cadmium fumes in high concentration for short time is likely to produce side effects called as cadium blue which includes symptoms like fever, chills and muscle ache. This can also damage lungs.
Chronic exposure of cadmium fumes in low concentration for long time is likely to cause bone, lung and kidney disease.
