The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) provides a toll-free help line for taxpayers to call in and get answers to questions as they

prepare their tax returns. In recent years, the IRS has been inundated with taxpayer calls and has redesigned its phone service as well as posted answers to frequently asked questions on its website.†Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer, January 7, 2010 According to a report by a taxpayer advocate, callers using the new system can expect to wait on hold for an unreasonably long time of 12 minutes before being able to talk to an IRS employee. Suppose you select a sample of 50 callers after the new phone service has been implemented; the sample results show a mean waiting time of 10 minutes before an IRS employee comes on the line. Based upon data from past years, you decide it is reasonable to assume that the standard deviation of waiting time is 8 minutes. Using your sample results, can you conclude that the actual mean waiting time turned out to be significantly less than the 12-minute claim made by the taxpayer advocate? Use α = 0.05

Answer:

Given confidence level=0.05

Hence the significance level=1-0.05=99.5

As standard deviation is 8 min,

Based on above results,we conclude that actual means is significantly less than 12 minute.

What expression can be used to represent the phrase " 3 more than 2 times the number of minutes, m"?
hjlf
The answer is B, 2m +3

Two times the number of minutes, m, would be 2m, and then if you need three more than that you would add three, resulting in the +3 part of the equation. Therefore, 2m + 3.

Hope this helps!

The interior angles formed by the sides of a quadrilateral have measures that sum to 360°.
igor_vitrenko [27]

Answer: x= 34

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: The measurement of the angles of the quadrilateral are as

First angle=88°

Second angle=108°

Third angle= 2x°

Forth angle =(3x-6)°

Now, The interior angles formed by the sides of a quadrilateral have measures that sum to 360°.

Therefore,

88+108+2x+(3x-6)=360\\\Rightarrow196+5x-6=360\\\Rightarrow\ 5x=360-190\\\Rightarrow\ x=\frac{170}{5}\\\Rightarrow\ x=34
