A disk is rotating with angular speed ω1=2.0 rad/s about axle. The moment of inertia of disk & axle is 0.47 kg m2. A second

disk of moment of inertia 0.31 kg m2 is dropped onto first. If dropped disk is rotating in opposite direction of ω1 with angular velocity ω2=1.0 rad/s, find magnitude of angular velocity of combination of two disks. Express your answer in rad/s.

Answer:

 w = 0.808 rad / s

Explanation:

As indicated by the moment of inertia t the angular velocity of the disks we use the concept of conservation of the angular momentum, for this we define the system as formed by the two discs, therefore the torque during the crash is internal and the angular momentum is conserved

Let's write in angular momentum

Initial. Before impact

         L₀ = I₁ w₁ + I₂ w₂

Final. After the rock has stuck

          L_{f} = (I₁ + I₂) w

The two discs are rotating in opposite directions, we consider the rotation of the first positive disc, so the angular velocity of the second is negative

          L₀ =L_{f}

           I₁ w₁ - I₂ w₂ = (I₁ + I₂) w

           w = (I₁ w₁ - I₂ w₂) / (I₁ + I₂)

Let's calculate

          w = (0.47 2.0 - 0.31 1.0) / (0.47+ 0.31)

          w = 0.63 / 0.78

          w = 0.808 rad / s

in the direction of disc rotation 1

Calculate the work done if a boy lifts a bag of cement 500N to the floor of a lorry 2.5m above the ground
eduard

Answer:

W = 1250 J = 1.25 KJ

Explanation:

The work done by the boy is due to the change in the position of the cement vertically. Hence, the work done in this case will be equal to the potential energy of the cement:

W = P.E\\W = mgh

where,

W = Work done = ?

mg = W = weight of cement = 500 N

h = height covered = 2.5 m

Therefore,

W = (500\ N)(2.5\ m)

<u>W = 1250 J = 1.25 KJ</u>

A 1750-kilogram cars travels at a constant speed of 15.0 meters per second around a horizontal, circular track with a radius of
bulgar [2K]

m = mass of the car moving in horizontal circle = 1750 kg

v = Constant speed of the car moving in the horizontal circle = 15 m/s

r = radius of the horizontal circular track traced by the car = 45.0 m

F = magnitude of the centripetal force acting on the car

To move in a circle . centripetal force is required which is given as

F = m v²/r

inserting the above values in the formula

F = (1750) (15)²/(45)

F = (1750) (225)/(45)

F = 1750 x 5

F = 8750 N

A bodybuilder deadlifts a 215 kg weight to a height of 0.90 m above the ground. If he deadlifts this weight 10 times in a span o
wariber [46]

A bodybuilder deadlifts 215 kg to a height of 0.90 m. If he deadlifts this weight 10 times in 45 s, the power exerted is 421 W (b.)

<h3>What is power?</h3>

In physics, power (P) is the work (W) done over a period of time.

  • Step 1. Calculate the work done by the bodybuilder each time.

The bodybuilder lifts a 215 kg (m) weight to a height of 0.90 m (h). Being the gravity (g) of 9.81 m/s², we can calculate the work done in each lift using the following expression.

W = m × g × h = 215 kg × 9.81 m/s² × 0.90 m = 1.9 × 10³ N

  • Step 2. Calculate the work done by the bodybuilder over 10 times.

W = 10 × 1.9 × 10³ N = 1.9 × 10⁴ N

  • Step 3. Calculate the power exerted by the bodybuilder.

The bodybuilder does a work of 1.9 × 10⁴ N in a 45-s span.

P = 1.9 × 10⁴ N/45 s = 421 W

A bodybuilder deadlifts 215 kg to a height of 0.90 m. If he deadlifts this weight 10 times in 45 s, the power exerted is 421 W (b.)
