Answer:

The acceleration of the plastic balls is not uniform.

Explanation:

A student is testing the kinematic equations for uniformly accelerated motion by measuring the time it takes for light weight plastic balls to fall to the floor from a height of 3 m in the lab. The student predicts the time to fall using g as 9.80 m/s2 but finds the measured time to be 35% greater. What is the most likely cause of the large percent error?

from the kinematic equation

s=ut+\frac{1}{2} *at^{2}

s=3m

a=9.8m/s^2

t=?

substituting into the equation

3=0*t+0.5*9.8t^2

t^2=.6122

t=0.782secs

if it is found to be 35% greater , then it will be

1.35*0.782

1.056s

the only casue would have been that

the downward acceleration of the ball is not uniform

when a circular plate of metal is heated in an oven, its radius increases at .03 cm/min, at what rate is the area increasing whe
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

Rate of change of area will be 9.796cm^2/min

Explanation:

We have given rate of change of radius \frac{dr}{dt}=0.03cm/min

Radius of the circular plate r = 52 cm

Area is given by A=\pi r^2

So \frac{dA}{dt}=2\pi r\frac{dr}{dt}

Puting the value of r and \frac{dr}{dt}

\frac{dA}{dt}=2\times 3.14\times 52\times 0.03=9.796cm^2/min

So rate of change of area will be 9.796cm^2/min

A metal rod has a moves with a constant velocity of 40 cm/s along two parallel metal rails through a magnetic field of 0.575 T.
love history [14]

Answer:

2.12/R mW

Explanation:

The electrical power, P generated by the rod is

P = B²L²v²/R where B = magnetic field = 0.575 T, L = length of metal rod = separation of metal rails = 20 cm = 0.2 m, v = velocity of metal rod = 40 cm/s = 0.4 m/s and R = resistance of rod = ?

So, the induced emf on the conductor is

E = BLv

= 0.575 T × 0.2 m × 0.4 m/s

= 0.046 V

= 46 mV

The electrical power, P generated by the rod is

P = B²L²v²/R

=  B²L²v²/R

So, P = (0.575 T)² × (0.2 m)² × (0.4 m/s)²

= 0.002116/R W

= 2.12/R mW

How to change 0.000 007 8 s to us?
Greeley [361]

The letter u before any unit means micro. Micro is a unit prefix used in the metric system which actually means a factor of 10^-6 (one millionth).

Now, 10^-6 is equivalent to a movement of 6 decimal places from left to right. So to write the number 0.0000078 s into a number which has a unit of us, therefore we move the decimal place by 6 to the right, giving us:

7.8 us

Another way to do this is to multiply the number by 1 million (1,000,000), so:

0.0000078 * 1,000,000

Using the calculator to solve, we get the value:

7.8 us
