The value x is 1, if the perimeter of square and rectangle are same. The perimeter of square and rectangle is 12 units.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given is,

                A square in a rectangle have the same perimeter

                The length of a side of the square is 4x-1

                The length of the rectangle is 2x+2 and width is 2x

Step:1

                Let, a - Side of square

                        l - Length of the rectangle

                       w - Width of the rectangle

Step:2

                Formula for perimeter of square is,

                                    p=4a.............................(1)

                Formula for perimeter of rectangle is,

                                   p=2(l+w)....................(2)

Step:3

                From given,

                            Equation (1) = Equation (2)

                                 4a = 2 (l+w)

               where,

                         a = 4x-1

                          l = 2x+2

                         w = 2x

               Substitute the values,

                       4 ( 4x-1 ) = 2 ( 2x+2+2x )

                            16x - 4 = 2 (4x + 2)

                            16x - 4 = 8x + 4

                          16x - 8x = 8

                                   8x = 8

                                     x = 1

Step:4

         Substitute the values of x,

                   a = 4(1)-1 = 3

                     l = 2(1)+2) = 4

                   w = 2(1) = 2

          Perimeter of square and rectangle is 12 units

Result:

           The value x is 1, if the perimeter of square and rectangle are same. The perimeter of square and rectangle is 12 units.

Umnica [9.8K]

Solution here,

dimentions of is 20 in. by 10 in. by 12 in.

i.e. volume of tank=20×10×12=2400 cu. in.

Again,

the tank holds 10 gallons of water

i.e. 10 gallons of water occupies 2400 cu. in.

so, 1 gallon of water occupies 2400/10 cu.in.

=240 cu.in

Answer:

Braden is incorrect because the correct answer is B. He included the top face of the box

Step-by-step explanation:

To find surface area, just add up the areas of all of the sides of the shape. In this case, you would have one side with 144 in^2 (12 * 12) and four sides with 120 in^2 (10 * 12). Add these together and you get 624

Find the expansion of tan x about the point X = 0.
yan [13]

Answer:

f(x) = x +\frac{1}{3}x^{3}+....

Step-by-step explanation:

As per the question,

let us consider f(x) = tan(x).

We know that <u>The Maclaurin series is given by:</u>

f(x) = f(0) + \frac{f^{'}(0)}{1!}\cdot x+ \frac{f^{''}(0)}{2!}\cdot x^{2}+\frac{f^{'''}(0)}{3!}\cdot x^{3}+......

So, differentiate the given function 3 times in order to find f'(x), f''(x) and f'''(x).

Therefore,

f'(x) = sec²x

f''(x) = 2 × sec(x) × sec(x)tan(x)

      = 2 × sec²(x) × tan(x)

f'''(x) = 2 × 2 sec²(x) tan(x) tan(x) + 2 sec²(x) × sec²(x)

       = 4sec²(x) tan²(x) + 2sec⁴(x)

       = 6 sec⁴x - 4 sec² x

We then substitute x with 0, and find the values

f(0) = tan 0 = 0

f'(0) =  sec²0 = 1

f''(0) = 2 × sec²(0) × tan(0) = 0

f'''(0) = 6 sec⁴0- 4 sec² 0 = 2

By putting all the values in the Maclaurin series, we get

f(x) = f(0) + \frac{f^{'}(0)}{1!}\cdot x+ \frac{f^{''}(0)}{2!}\cdot x^{2}+\frac{f^{'''}(0)}{3!}\cdot x^{3}+......

f(x) = 0 + \frac{1}{1}\cdot x+ \frac{0}{2}\cdot x^{2}+\frac{2}{6}\cdot x^{3}+......

f(x) = x +\frac{1}{3}x^{3}+....

Therefore, the expansion of tan x at x = 0 is

f(x) = x +\frac{1}{3}x^{3}+.....
