What do I need to find?

Your answer is correct.

What information do I need to use?

100% = 240 miles, she has already driven 15% of 240, so she has driven x miles.

How will I use the information?

Set up a proportion. If she has already driven 15% out of 100% of the distance, then you should write \frac{15}{100} for the first fraction. This is proportional to \frac{x(miles)}{240(miles)}. This means that \frac{15}{100} = \frac{x}{240}. Wait, but this is confusing. How on Earth do we solve it? Let's take a closer look. If \frac{x}{240} is supposed to equal 15/100, then this means that x/240 divided by 15/100 should give us the answer. So, even though it looks complicated, all you have to do is cross multiply like this:

\frac{15}{100} = \frac{x}{240} --> 240 * 15 = 100x --> 3600 = 100x

Now isolate x:

\frac{3600}{100} = \frac{100x}{100}

So x = 36, which means she has already driven 36 out of 240 miles. Lucia still has to drive 204 miles to reach her destination.

1.) In this case, 56 = 100% and 25% of the sandwiches were tuna. This means that 75% of the sandwiches were not. If \frac{25}{100} = \frac{x}{56} and you use the same method above, x is equal to 14. If 14 is 25% then that means the other 75% = 14 * 3. So 42 sandwiches were not tuna.

2.) \frac{60}{100} = \frac{x}{450}

--> 27000 = 100x

---> \frac{27000}{100} = \frac{100x}{100}

He still has $270 left to pay.

How many times is 5 x 10^6 larger than 5 x 10^4
gayaneshka [121]
<h3>Answer:</h3>

By <em>100 times</em>.

Step-by-step explanation:

Each time something is in Scientific Notation, to every power of 10 something is multiplied by, it grows by 10 times.

By knowing that, if both equations use the same starting number, you can minus the notation section from the larger value, to find the answer.

10^6 - 10^4 = 10^2 ---> 100 times.

Hope that helps, :)

Kevin cuts lawns during the summer months. He charges $10 plus $5 per hour. The algebraic model is C = 5h + 10, where C represen
Oxana [17]

Answer:

\begin{center}\begin{tabular}{ c c c }Hours(h) & Total Cost(C) \\ 1 & 15  \\  2 & 20  \\   3 & 25  \\ 4 & 30   \\ 5 & 35    \end{tabular}\end{center}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Kevin charges $10 plus $5 per hours

C = 5h + 10

To find:

The table of values for hours worked from 1 to 5.

Solution:

First of all, let us put h = 1 in the given equation:

C = 5 \times 1 + 10

C = 5 + 10 = $15

Now, let us put h = 2 in the given equation:

C = 5 \times 2 + 10

C = 10 + 10 = $20

Now, let us put h = 3 in the given equation:

C = 5 \times 3 + 10

C = 15 + 10 = $25

Now, let us put h = 4 in the given equation:

C = 5 \times 4 + 10

C = 20 + 10 = $30

Now, let us put h = 5 in the given equation:

C = 5 \times 5 + 10

C = 25 + 10 = $35

So, the table becomes each row incrementing h by 1:

\begin{center}\begin{tabular}{ c c c }Hours(h) & Total Cost(C) \\ 1 & 15  \\  2 & 20  \\   3 & 25  \\ 4 & 30   \\ 5 & 35    \end{tabular}\end{center}
