Explain why gases are more compressible than solid
Oduvanchick [21]

Answer:

If we put pressure on a solid or a liquid, there is essentially no change in volume. ... The kinetic-molecular theory explains why gases are more compressible than either liquids or solids. Gases are compressible because most of the volume of a gas is composed of the large amounts of empty space between the gas particles.

the second law of thermodynamics states that thermal energy can floe from colder objects to hotter objects?
hodyreva [135]
BIg, big questions in Thermodynamics. ...
Not without "help" it can't. There are two versions of this. One is that it is impossible to take heat from something and convert it completely into work - there has to be some waste at a lower temperature. The other is that heat will not "spontaneously" go from a colder place to a warmer place. So, a domestic fridge needs a device to transfer the heat, that's that buzzing sound of a motor driving a refrigerant round in a cycle, taking heat out the fridge and making the surrounding warmer. It's also called a heat pump. The area near where the pump puts its heat can be felt to be warm.

Calculate the work done by a 47N force pushing a pencil against a force of 23 N
stira [4]
I believe the answer would be 24N
Explanation: Because the forces are going against each other, in order to calculate the work done we need to subtract them. 47-23=24
