Each of the following items states a temperature, but does not tell you whether the temperature is measured on the Fahrenheit, C

elsius, or Kelvin scale. Match the items to the appropriate temperature scale.
A: a hot summer day 100
icecream stored in freezer at 26
B: water freezes into ice 0
typical room temperature 24
liquid water boils at 100
C: coldest possible temperature is 0
water into gas phase 373.15

Answer:

A)Fahrenheit

B)celsius

C)kelvin

Hello! To solve this problem we must use the equations to convert temperatures to degrees Celsius, keep in mind that

At 0C the water freezes

At 100C the water boils.

The conversion equations are as follows

farenheit to celsius

(°F − 32) × 5/9 = °C

kelvin to celsuis

Kelvin-273.15=°C

A

We start using farenheit to celsius

((26)-32) \frac{5}{9} =-3.3C

As the ice cream should be below 0C we conclude that the temperature is in Farenheit

b

At atmospheric pressure the water freezes below 0C, boils at 100C and remains liquid between 0C and 100C, we conclude that this temperature is in celsius

c)

The third law of thermodynamics establishes the existence of absolute zero, at this temperature there is a total absence of internal energy that makes the molecules of any substance stand still, the above occurs at 0 Kelvin.

let's convert 373.15 to celsius

Kelvin-273.15=°C

373.15-273.15=100°C

as the water boils at 100C, the temperature of point C is in Kelvin

A helium-filled balloon is launched when the temperature at ground level is 27.8°c and the barometer reads 752 mmhg. if the ball
ololo11 [35]
The helium may be treated as an ideal gas, so that
(p*V)/T =constant
where
p = pressure
V = volume
T = temperature.

Note that
7.5006 x 10⁻³ mm Hg = 1 Pa
1 L = 10⁻³ m³

Given:
At ground level,
p₁ = 752 mm Hg
     = (752 mm Hg)/(7.5006 x 10⁻³ mm Hg/Pa)
     = 1.0026 x 10⁵ Pa
V₁ = 9.47 x 10⁴ L = (9.47 x 10⁴ L)*(10⁻³ m³/L)
     = 94.7 m³
T₁ = 27.8 °C = 27.8 + 273 K
     = 300.8 K

At 36 km height,
P₂ = 73 mm Hg = 73/7.5006 x 10⁻³ Pa
     = 9.7326 x 10³ Pa
T₂ = 235 K

If the volume at  36 km height is V₂, then
V₂ = (T₂/p₂)*(p₁/T₁)*V₁
     = (235/9.7326 x 10³)*(1.0026 x 10⁵/300.8)*94.7
     = 762.15 m³

What subatomic particle determines the identity of an element
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

Proton

Explanation:

Proton is a subatomic particle and determines the identity of an element. each element is identified by its atomic number. In an element, the number of protons in the nuclei of the atoms of the element is same as the atomic number of that element and this number is different for each element. for example, Boron has 5 protons in its nuclei, hence the atomic number of the element is 5.
