<span>We can expand this expression using foil method (first, then out, then in then last), multiply them together:
(y+5)(y+7)
y^2 + 7y + 5y + 35
y^2 + 12y + 35

This is already simplified and thus is also the final answer. There are also other ways but foil method is the easiest.</span>

(y + 5)(y + 7)
use FOIL
F -- multiply first terms in each set....y * y = y^2
O -- multiply outside terms in each set...y * 7 = 7y
I -- multiply inside terms in each set...5 * y = 5y
L -- multiply last terms in each set...5 * 7 = 35
now put them all together...
y^2 + 7y + 5y + 35 --- combine like terms
y^2 + 12y + 35 <-- ur answer

Which is an equation in point-slope form for the given point and slope?
Kisachek [45]

The point-slope form: y-y_1=m(x-x_1)

Q2.

(1,\ -7)\to x_1=1,\ y_1=-7\\m=1\\\\y-(-7)=1(x-1)\\\\y+7=(x-1)

Q3.

(5,\ 9)\to x_1=5,\ y_1=9\\m=2\\\\y-9=2(x-5)

Q4.

y=mx+b\\\\(0,\ 1)\to b=1\\\\y=mx+1

The formula of a slope: m=\dfrac{x_2-x_1}{y_2-y_1}

((-2,\ 4)\to x_1=-2,\ y=4\\(2,\ -2)\to x_2=2,\ y_2=-2\\\\m=\dfrac{-2-4}{2-(-2)}=\dfrac{-6}{4}=-1.5

y=-1.5x+1
