Mass extinctions have occurred five times in Earth's history. The Permian and Cretaceous extinctions removed a large percentage

of organisms from the planet. How did these extinctions contribute to the patterns of biodiversity we see today? A. Species that remained after the extinction were able to radiate, new adaptations arose, and these adaptations produced the diversity seen today. B. Species that have gone extinct were able to re-evolve from the ancestors that survived the extinction. C. Species that remained after the extinction were unable to speciate. Therefore, the number of species on Earth today is lower than the number of species present just before either extinction. D. Species that remained after the extinction represented all of the lineages that were present before the extinction event. Therefore, extinction did not change the diversity of lineages.

Answer:

A. Species that remained after the extinction were able to radiate, new adaptations arose, and these adaptations produced the diversity seen today.

Explanation:

When species went extinct they also left niches that could be occupied by "new" species; new places to live, places to be filled in the food web and different relationships to be formed. The wide availability of resources made organisms to radiate leading to a "new" diversity of shapes, sizes, and lifestyles.

B. Species that have gone extinct were able to re-evolve from the ancestors that survived the extinction.  If you are extinct you are gone forever.

C. Species that remained after the extinction were unable to speciate. Therefore, the number of species on Earth today is lower than the number of species present just before either extinction. The fossil record proves that species have changed over time and the diversity has changed over the history of Earth.

D. Species that remained after the extinction represented all of the lineages that were present before the extinction event. Therefore, extinction did not change the diversity of lineages. Again, the fossil record is evidence that lineages have changed over the history of the Earth.

explain why it is important to keep the levels of nucleotides relatively balanced in the context of dna and rna synthesis
juin [17]

Answer:

Read Below

Explanation:

Nucleotides are A & T and G&C you see in DNA and in RNA T is Replaced by U. The reason they must be balanced between G&C and T&A is because G has to bond with A in DNA and G with C so if there is more G than C that means there is mismatches between the DNA nucleotides same thing for A and T. In RNA you follow the same rule. If we have lets say 27% of our DNA as A we have to have 27% as T leaving 23% as C and 23% as G. If there was lets say 29% T while one 27% A then there was a error in DNA replication and could lead to errors in RNA synthesis if not corrected

Explain the precautions for immunizing children with Bruton's agammaglobulinemia.
topjm [15]

Answer:

Avoid using killed vaccine for administration.

Explanation:

Bruton's agammaglobulinemia may be defined as the X linked disorder that affects the immune system of an individual. This disease is mainly caused by the mutation in the gene responsible for coding the  Bruton tyrosine kinase.

The children suffering from this disease require special immunization and some precaution must be followed before immunizing them. These patients are not allowed to immunizes with the live vaccines as these vaccines can evoke the immune response strongly and child may get infected by the disease. The individual should not given immunosuppressive drugs or corticosteroids.

Thus, the answer is avoid using killed vaccine for administration.

what is a light year? Explain why light-years are used to measure distances and sizes in the universe
Neko [114]

A Light Year is a mesurement of 5.879e+12 miles Compressed into one unit of mesurement or a "Light Year"

Light Years are used in the measurement of the universe because, to put it simply, SPACE IS BIG! The use of Light Years (5.879e+12 miles) Breaks the observable universe down into manageable chunks for astrologists.
