Answer:

176.4 meters

Explanation:

The first equation is for average velocity. The other three are the constant acceleration equations you'll need to know.

v = at + v₀

v² = v₀² + 2a(x − x₀)

x = x₀ + v₀ t + ½ at²

x is the final position

x₀ is the initial position

v is the final velocity

v₀ is the initial velocity

t is time

a is acceleration

Notice that the first equation is independent of position.

The second equation is independent of time.

The third equation is independent of final velocity.

So knowing which information you don't have will point you to which equation you should use.

Let's begin:

"Which one would be best to find the distance the object fell from free-fall if it fell for six seconds, assuming if fell in the absence of air resistance and it still hasn't hit the ground? Solve this problem and show all steps of work."

We want to find the distance (change in position). We're given the time (t = 6 s) and we're given the acceleration (free fall without air resistance, so a = -9.8 m/s²).

We aren't given the final velocity, so the equation we should use is the third one:

y = y₀ + v₀ t + ½ at²

Unfortunately, we aren't told the initial velocity, but if we assume that the object starts at rest, then v₀ = 0 m/s. Substituting all values:

y = y₀ + (0 m/s) (6 s) + ½ (-9.8 m/s²) (6 s)²

y − y₀ = -176.4 m

The displacement is -176.4 m. Distance is the magnitude of displacement, so we can say the object fell 176.4 meters.

A baseball is hit that just goes over a wall that is 45.4m high. If the baseball is traveling at 46.2 m/s at an angle of 32.7° b
mario62 [17]

Answer:

54.9 m/s at 44.9 degrees

Explanation:

If the ball has a total velocity of 46.2 m/s, at an angle of -32.7 degrees, we can decompose its speed into its horizontal and vertical components.

Vx = V * cos(a) = 46.2 * cos(-32.7) = 38.9 m/s

Vy = V * sin(a) = 46.2 * sin(-32.7) = -25 m/s

SInce there is no force on the horizontal direction (omitting air drag), we can assume constant horizontal speed.

Since a ball thrown is at free fall, only affected by gravity (omitting air drag), we can say it is affected by constant acceleration, therefore we can use

Y(t) = Y0 + Vy0 *t + 1/2 * a * t^2

We consider t=0 as the moment when the ball was hit, so in this case Y0 = 1 m

If we take the first derivative of the equation of position, we get the equation for speed

V(t) = Vy0 + a * t

We know that being t2 the moment the ball goes over the wall

V(t2) = -25 m/s

Y(t2) = 45.4 m

So:

45.4 = 1 + Vy0 * t2 + 1/2 * a * t2^2

-25 = Vy0 + a * t2

Then:

Vy0 = -25 - a * t2

So:

45.4 = 1 + (-25 - a * t2) * t2 + 1/2 * a * t2^2

0 = -44.4 - 25 * t2 - 1/2 * a * t2^2

a = -9.81 m/s^2

0 = -44.4 - 25 * t2 + 4.9 * t2^2

Solving this quadratic equation we get:

t1 = -1.39 s

t2 = 6.5 s

Since we are looking for a positive value we disregard t1.

Now we can obtain Vy0:

Vy0 = -25 + 9.81 * 6.5 = 38.76 m/s

Since horizontal speed is constant Vx0 = 38.9 m/s

By Pythagoras theorem we obtain the value of the initial speed:

V0 = \sqrt{Vx0^2 + Vy0^2} = \sqrt{38.9^2 + 38.76^2} = 54.9 m/s

The angle is in the the first quadrant because both comonents ate positive, so: 0 < a < 90

a = atan(Vy0/Vx0) = 44.9 degrees

Un avión vuela a una velocidad de 900 km/h. Si tarda en viajar desde Canarias hasta la península 180 s ¿qué distancia recorre en
wel

Answer:

El avión recorrió 45 km en los 180 s.

Explanation:

La relación entre velocidad, distancia y tiempo se da de la siguiente manera;

Velocidad= \dfrac{Distancia}{Hora}

Por lo cual los parámetros dados son los siguientes;

Velocidad = 900 km/h = 250 m / s

Tiempo = 180 s

Estamos obligados a calcular la distancia recorrida

De la ecuación para la velocidad dada arriba, tenemos;

Distancia recorrida = Velocidad pf viaje × Tiempo de viaje

Distancia recorrida = 900 km/h × 180 s = 900

Distancia recorrida = 900 km/h × 1 h/60 min × 1 min/60 s × 180 s = 45 km

Por lo tanto, el avión viajó 45 km en 180 s.

Assign a positive velocity to the red box and negative velocity to the blue box. Are they moving in opposite direction?
attashe74 [19]

Answer:

Yes, they are moving in opposite direction one to the other.

Explanation:

Velocity is a vector quantity, which means that it has both magnitude and direction. The magnitude shows the size of the velocity, and the direction shows which way it is moving in reference to a chosen reference direction. If the red box is assigned a positive velocity, and the blue box is assigned a negative velocity, as indicated in the question, then it means that the red box, and the blue box, both move in opposite direction to the other.

A comet is cruising through the solar system at a speed of 50,000 kilometers per hour foe 4 hours time. What is the total distan
Triss [41]

Answer:

The distance covered by comet is 200,000 km

Explanation:

Speed is defined as the rate of change of distance with time. It is given by the equation speed= \bold{\frac{distance}{time}}

Thus distance= speed*time

In this problem it is given that speed of comet= \frac{50,000km}{hr}

time travelled by the comet= 4 hours

Thus distance= speed*time

                            = 500000*4

                            = \bold{200,000km}
