We need to account for both x values on either side of the length, and width.
Thus, the length becomes 10 + x + x = 10 + 2x
and the width becomes 5 + x + x = 5 + 2x

For the second question, I'm assuming we don't account for the area that is covered by the garden.
Then we can say that the path is measured by: (5 + 2x)(10 + 2x) - 50, which is the area of the garden itself.

(5 + 2x)(10 + 2x) - 50 = 54

Expanding the brackets:
50 + 10x + 20x + 4x^{2} - 50 = 54
4x^{2} + 30x = 54
2x^{2} + 15x - 27 = 0
2x^{2} - 3x + 18x - 27 = 0
x(2x - 3) + 9(2x - 3) = 0

(x + 9)(2x - 3) = 0
x = -9, or x = 3/2

Since x > 0, then x ≠ -9
Thus, the only x-value we can take is x = 3/2

nikklg [1K]

Answer:

Large baking dish of cylinder, cone and sphere.

Step-by-step explanation:

When we compute the volume of each of the small and large baking dish taking \pi=3.14, we get

Volume of cylinder (small dish)= \pi(r^2)(h)

                                                  =3.14(\frac{3}{2})^2*3

                                                  = \frac{3.14*9*3}{4}

                                                 = 21.195

Volume of cylinder (large dish)= \pi(r)^2(h)= 3.14*(3)^2(3)

                                                  =84.78

Similarly, volume of cone (smaller dish)= \frac{1}{3} \pi r^{2} h

                                                            = 7.065

Volume of cone (larger dish)= 84.78

Volume of sphere(smaller dish)= \frac{4}{3} \pi r^{3}

                                                    = 14.13

Volume of sphere (larger dish) = 85.17 (approx)

Hence, we get that larger baking dish have approximately same volume.

Therefore, large baking dish of cylinder, cone, sphere will be chosen.

Solve for c.<br><br> 2(c +1) = 10
coldgirl [10]

Answer:

c=4

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Simplify both sides of the equation.

2(c+1)=10

(2)(c)+(2)(1)=10(Distribute)

2c+2=10

Step 2: Subtract 2 from both sides.

2c+2−2=10−2

2c=8

Step 3: Divide both sides by 2.

2c

2 = 8

2

c=4

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Parent function:</u>

  • y = 3ˣ

<u>Transformed function:</u>

  • y = 4(3)⁻²ˣ⁺⁸ + 6, (note. I see this as 8, sorry if different but it doesn't make any change to transformation method)

<u>Transformations to be applied:</u>

  • f(x) → f(-x) reflection over y-axis
  • f(-x) → f(-2x) stretch horizontally by a factor of 2
  • f(-2x) → f(-2x + 8) translate 8 units right
  • f(-2x + 8) → 4f(-2x + 8)  stretch vertically by a factor of 4
  • 4f(-2x + 8) → 4f(-2x + 8) + 6 translate 6 units up

Refer to the following frequency distribution of days absent during a calendar year by employees of a manufacturing company:
adelina 88 [10]

Answer:

(a) 91 employees were absent fewer than six days.

(b) 22 employees were absent more than five days.

(c) 20 employees were absent from 6 up to 12 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

The data for the number of days absent during a calendar year by employees of a manufacturing company is given below.

(a)

The number of employees that were absent for fewer than six days is =

Frequency\  for\  class\ [0\ - \ 3]+Frequency\  for\  class\ [3\ - \ 6]\\=60 +31\\=91

Thus, there were 91 employees who were absent for fewer than six days.

(b)

The number of employees that were absent for more than 5 days is =

Frequency\  for\  class\ [6\ -\ 9]+Frequency\  for\  class\ [9\ -\12]+\\Frequency\ for\  class\ [12\ - \15]\\=14+6+2\\=22

Thus, there were 22 employees who were absent for more than 5 days.

(c)

The number of employees that were absent from 6 up to 12 days is =

Frequency\  for\  class\ [6\ -\ 9]+Frequency\  for\  class\ [9\ -\12]=14+6\\=20

Thus, there were 20 employees who were absent from 6 up to 12 days.
