Answer:

16g

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of H₂   = 2.0g

Mass of O₂ = 16g

Unknown:

Mass of oxygen that will react to form H₂O₂  = ?

Solution:

Let us establish the reaction equation first;

              H₂  + O₂   →    H₂O₂

This equation is balanced chemical equation;

   Now to solve this problem, find the limiting reactant. The limiting reactant is the reactant in short supply.

To find this reactant, convert the given masses to number of moles.

   Number of moles   = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

         Molar mass of H₂  = 2(1)  = 2g/mol

          Molar mass of  O₂  = 2(16) = 32g/mol

 Number of moles of H₂  = \frac{2}{2}   = 1mole

 Number of moles of O₂   = \frac{16}{32}   = 0.5mole

  From the balanced reaction equation;

         1 mole of H₂  reacted with 1 mole of O₂

Therefore 1 mole of H₂ will require 1 mole of O₂

But the given number of O₂ is 0.5moles. This is the limiting reactant that will determine the extent of the reaction.

  The mass of 0.5moles of oxygen gas is 16g

What environment will produce the largest crystal sizes?
VMariaS [17]
  • The pressure should be low as low pressure can melt the crystals easier way
  • According to Gay lussac's law pressure is directly proportional to temperature so temperature should be also low as it's general any thing need to be cooled down inorder to get crystallised
  • Now for amount of dissolved solids the solution should be super saturated like magma .It denotes that the particles present as solute must be greater than the solubility.
  • Cooling time also should be long inorder to give time to crystallization

Potassium chlorate (used in fireworks, flares, and safety matches) forms oxygen and potassium chloride when heated. KClO3(s) → K
Zina [86]

Answer:

10.3 g of oxygen are formed when 26.4 g of potassium chlorate is heated

Explanation:

This is the balanced equation:

2KClO₃(s) → 2KCl(s) + 3O₂(g)

Ratio beteween the salt and oxygen is 2:3

Molar mass of KClO₃ = 122.55 g/m

Let's find out the moles of salt

Mass / Molar mass

26.4 g /122.55 g/m = 0.215 moles

So, this is the final rule of three:

If 2 moles of KClO₃ make 3 moles of oxygen

0.215 moles of KClO₃ make  (0.215  .3) /2 = 0.323 moles of O₂ are produced

Molar mass O₂ = 32 g/m

Moles . molar mass = mass

0.323 m  . 32g/m = 10.3 g

To answer this question, you may need access to the periodic table of elements.
OleMash [197]

Answer:

b.) Br and Br

Explanation:

A covalent bond occurs when electrons are shared between two atoms causing them to form a bond.

A "pure" covalent bond refers to a nonpolar covalent bond. In these bonds, the electrons are shared equally between two atoms as a result of the absence of an (or very small) electronegativity difference. The purest covalent bond would therefore be between two atoms of the same electronegativity. Two bromines (Br) have the same electronegativity, thus making it the purest covalent bond.

Polar covalent bonds occur when electrons are shared unequally between two atoms. There is a larger electronegativity difference between the two atoms, but not large enough to classify the bonds as ionic. In this case, a.) and c.) are polar covalent bonds and d.) is an ionic bond.
