There is a constant which is the venue costs of $2,000 and a variable cost of $80 per guest for the reception.

Let us assume "X" guests arrive for the reception, so we can form the equation as shown below:

80X + 2,000 = 10,000 (Since the total budget for the wedding is $10,000)

80X = 8000

8X = 800

X =100

Therefore, Selena and Ronald can invite 100 guests for the wedding without going over their budget
