Answer:

2.5

Step-by-step explanation:

56(t+1/2)=70 t

56T + 28= 70T

28=70T-56T

28=14

2=T

s=T+ 1/2

S=2+ 1/2

S=2.5 hours

"Stephanie left riverside, California, driving her motorhome north on interstate 15 towards Salt Lake City at a speed of 56 miles per hour. Half an hour later , tina left riverside in her car on the same route as Stephanie , driving 70 miles per hour. Solve the system.

{56s=70t

{s=t+1/2

for t to find the value of s, the number of hours Stephanie will have driven before Tina catches up to her. "

<h3><u>Answer:</u></h3>

On solving the system, we get t = 2 and s = 2.5

The number of hours Stephanie will have driven before Tina catches up to her is 2.5 hours

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

According to question,

Stephanie is driving at speed of 56 miles per hour

Half an hour later, tina started driving 70 miles per hour

The relation between speed and distance is:

Distance = speed \times time

So, the extra distance travelled by Stephanie is:

\text { Distance }=56 \times \frac{1}{2}=28 \text { mile }

According to question, the time that both Stephanie and Tina travel is the same, so we only need one variable for time "t "

Distance Travelled by Stephanie (d) + 28miles = Distance Travelled by Tina (D)

d + 28 = D

We already know that Distance = speed \times time

(56 \times t)+28=(70 \times t)

56t + 28 = 70t

70t – 56t = 28

14t = 28

t = 2

Given that "s" represents the number of hours Stephanie will have driven before Tina catches up to her.

Now, its given that s = t + \frac{1}{2}

So, s = 2 + \frac{1}{2}\\\\s = \frac{5}{2}\\\\s = 2.5

So the number of hours Stephanie will have driven before Tina catches up to her is 2.5 hours

I would recommend "Introduction to Linear Algebra," by Gilbert Strang. It is a compact but very helpful textbook reference written by a well-known MIT professor. There is a corresponding online MIT course that is free, so that's a bonus. I am currently using it to study linear algebra with no class or previous experience, and I think it does a solid job of explaining things. Each section in the book has a set of questions for you to work through, and answers to selected questions appear in an appendix at the end of the book. Hope this helps!

PLEASE HELP THE QUESTION IS BELOW!!
irina [24]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

B=3x-2

C=12x+2

D=B=3x-2 (Vertically opposite angles)

A=?

Now; we know, A+B+C+D=360 deg.

=>A=360-(B+C+D)

  =360-(3x-2+12x+2+3x-2)

  =360-(18x-2) ----[1]

B+C=180 deg. (linear pair)

=> 3x-2+12x+2=180

=> 15x=180

=> x=180/15

   =12 ---[2]

subsitute [2] in [1];

=> A= 360-(18x-2)

   = 360-(18*12-2)

   = 360-(116-2)

   = 360-214

   = 146 deg.

So, the correct answer is (D).

Hope the answer is useful.

yanalaym [24]

Answer:

1. 520

2. 568.125

Step-by-step explanation:

1.

10 per 40 hours + 1.5 overtime

1.5 overtime = 10(1.5) = 15

10 (40) + 15 (8)

= 400 + 120

= 520

2.

11.25 per 40 hours + 1.5 overtime

1.5 overtime = 11.25(1.5) = 16.875

11.25 (40) + 16.875 (7)

= 450 + 118.125

= 568.125
