The reaction below shows the decomposition of sodium azide into sodium metal and nitrogen gas.

Chemistry

Answer:

0.51g

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Volume of nitrogen gas  = 744mL

Unknown:

Mass of sodium metal produced = ?

Solution:

Let us assume that the gas, nitrogen was collected at STP which is the standard temperature and pressure, we can easily find its number of moles.

            Number of moles  = \frac{volume of gas}{22.4}

since the gas volume given is 744mL = 0.744mL

   Therefore input the variables;

         Number of moles  = \frac{0.744}{22.4}   = 0.03moles

Now that we know the number of moles of the gas, let us revisit the reaction equation:

      2NaN₃   →   2Na    +  3N₂

It good to ensure that the reaction is balanced;

         3 mole of nitrogen gas is produced with 2 moles of Na

        0.03 mole of nitrogen gas will be produce with \frac{0.03 x 2}{3}  = 0.02mole

So;

       Using;

                    mass  = number of moles x molar mass

let us solve for the mass of Na;

                   molar mass of Na = 23g/mol

                  mass  = 0.02 x 23  = 0.51g

The process of the classifying living thing is
jok3333 [9.3K]

Answer:

D. all of these

Explanation:

In the classification of organisms, they are placed into groups which they appropriately fit into.

All the choices given correctly shows the process of classifying organisms. This aspect of biology is described as taxonomy.

  • Based on characteristics of organisms, they are put into the same groups
  • Also, we can identify the related family and genus in which a discovered organism can be put into.
  • They phylogenetic relationship between organisms are important for classification.

What is the concentration of chloride ions in a solution formed by mixing 150. mL of a 1.50 M NaCl solution with 250. mL of a 0.
joja [24]
Here, we apply a mass balance:
Moles of chloride ions in final solution = sum of moles of chloride ions in added solutions

We must also not that each mole of sodium chloride will release one mole of chloride ions, while each mole of magnesium chloride will release two moles of chloride ions.
Moles = concentration * volume
Moles in final solution = moles in NaCl solution + moles in MgCl₂ solution
C * (150 + 250) = 1.5 * 150 + 2 * 0.75 * 250
C = 1.5 M

The final concentration is 1.5 M

What does the axiom "like dissolves like” mean? There
Paraphin [41]

Answer:

"Like dissolves like" is an expression used by chemists to remember how some solvents work. It refers to "polar" and "nonpolar" solvents and solutes. Like dissolves like, that means polar dissolves polar, so water dissolves salt.
