i.e. ,<u> if a compound is polar then it will dissolve in a polar compound only , </u>and

<u>if a compound is non - polar then it will dissolve in a non - polar compound only .</u>

Methanol and water as we know are both polar species , hence , according to the principle - soluble .

( b )

Hexane and cyclohexane

Both the species are polar species , hence , according to the principle - soluble .

( c )

Hexane and water

In this case ,

Hexane , is non polar and water is polar , hence , the mixture will be non soluble .
