Let’s start with number 1.

First, we should take 20% off of the original price of the sweater. To do this, we first find 20% of 55 by doing 0.2*55

I got 11, so that is the discount on the sweater.

Next, we have to take off that discount from the sweater, so we do 55-11.

I got 44, so that is the price of the sweater with the discount.

Now I have to add the sales tax. The sales tax is 5.5%, so I have to find 5.5% of 44.

To do this I will do 0.055*44

I got 2.42

Now, I must add that to the 44

So, 44+2.42

I got 46.42 dollars as my answer for number two (the first question on your paper)

Now, numbers one and two at the bottom are dealing with simple interest. We need to use the equation I=prt.

Let’s start with number one. Let’s fill in what we know, and solve for what we don’t.

Interest= Not known yet

Principle= 700

Rate= 1.8% or 0.018

Time= 6

Okay, let’s make an equation to solve for what we don’t know.

I= 700 * 0.018 * 6

Solve by multiplying.

I got 75.60dollars as the answer

Now, the last problem. Same method as before.

Interest= 126

Principle= Not known yet

Rate= 1.2% or 0.012

Time= 7

Let’s set up the equation

126= p*0.012*7

Multiply 0.012 and 7, then divide 126 by that answer.

I got 1,500 dollars as the principle amount (her deposit)

Overall, here are the answers in order of the questions

46.42 dollars

75.60dollars

1,500 dollars as the principle amount (her deposit)

Hope this helped! Comment if you have any questions or concerns! :)
