Which of the following is a property of a pure substance?

Chemistry

Answer: Option (c) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

A pure substance is defined as the substance that contains either same or different type of atoms which are chemically combined to each other in a fixed ratio by mass.

For example, both Cl_{2} and CaSO_{4} are pure substances.

A pure substance can only be separated by chemical means.

So, this shows that a pure substance can be made up of same elements or different type of elements that constitute a compound.

Thus, we can conclude that a property of a pure substance is that it is made up of a single element or type of compound.

Why do crystals form during crystallisation
Mazyrski [523]

Answer: Crystallization is a technique which chemists use to purify solid compounds. Crystals often form in nature when liquids cool and start to harden. Certain molecules in the liquid gather together as they attempt to become stable. They do this in a uniform and repeating pattern that forms the crystal. The process is based on the principles of solubility: compounds (solutes) tend to be more soluble in hot liquids (solvents) than they are in cold liquids. If a saturated hot solution is allowed to cool, the solute is no longer soluble in the solvent and forms crystals of pure compound. Impurities are excluded from the growing crystals and the pure solid crystals can be separated from the dissolved impurities by filtration.
For an example the salt we get from seawater can have many impurities in it. Hence, the process of crystallization is in use to remove these impurities.

In order to synthesize proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids, cells require _____.
jonny [76]

Answer:

Energy

Explanation:

A sugar group would be used for carbohydrates or nucleic acids. An adenosine group would be used in ATP formation if I recall correct. And disaccharides are just two monosaccharides linked together, so that would also be for carbohydrates. Therefore, energy is the answer.

Why does water evaperate
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Explanation:

water evaporates because when h2o (water) particles heat up, they gain energy causing them to start to vibrate. this moves the oarticles further and further away from eachother and making the substance less dense, and turning it into a gas. meaning it has evaporated
