Answer:

Let X be the number of customer purchased coffee

Let Y be the number of customer purchased donuts

Then X\cap Y is the number of customer purchased both coffee and donuts

X\cup Y  is the number of customer purchased both coffee or donuts

<em><u>The Number of customers purchased  only Coffee:</u></em>

Number of customers purchased  only donuts =n(X -Y)

n( X -Y) = n(X) - n(X \cap Y)

n(X-Y) = 59 -16

n(Y - X) = 43

<em><u>The Number of customers purchased  only donuts:</u></em>

Number of customers purchased  only donuts =n(Y -X)

n(Y - X) = n(Y) - n(X \cap Y)

n(Y - X) = 39 -16

n(Y - X) = 23

<u>The Number of customers did not purchase either of these items:</u>

Number of customers did not purchase either of these items = n(X\cup Y)^{\prime}

First lets find   n(X\cup Y)

n(X\cup Y) = n(X) +  n(Y) - n( X \cap Y)

n(X\cup Y) = 59 + 39 - 16

n(X\cup Y)  = 82

n(X\cup Y)^{\prime}  =110 -  n(X\cup Y)  = 28

Helena creates two similar rectangles using exactly 100 cm of string. The smaller rectangles width and length are 4 cm by 6 cm r
Misha Larkins [42]

Answer:

The dimensions of the larger rectangle are 24\ cm of length by 16\ cm of width

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x-----> the length of the larger rectangle

y-----> the width of the larger rectangle

we know that

\frac{x}{y}=\frac{6}{4} ------> by similar rectangles

x=1.5y -----> equation A

<u>Find the perimeter of the smaller rectangle</u>

P=2(6+4)=20\ cm

<u>Find the perimeter of the larger rectangle</u>

Subtract  the perimeter of the smaller rectangle from 100 cm of string

P=100-20=80\ cm

Remember that

80=2x+2y ------> 40=x+y ------> equation B

substitute equation A in equation B

40=1.5y+y

2.5y=40

y=16\ cm

Find the value of x

x=1.5(16)=24\ cm

The dimensions of the larger rectangle are 24\ cm of length by 16\ cm of width

erik [133]
So Matrix's van can take up to 14 gallons of gasoline, and it does 25 miles for one gallon, wait a second, it takes up 14 gallons though, if it does 25 miles for 1 gallon, how much does it do for the whole 14 gallons?  well, 14 * 25, that many miles for a whole full tank.

On his next trip, he'll be driving it for 1050 miles, how many tanks is that?

well, how many times does (14*25) go into 1050?   1050/(14*25)  that many.
