You want to test your newly created Web site, so you have 250 people access it from random locations at random times. Of the peo

ple accessing the site, 75 of them experience computer crashes. You want to estimate the proportion of crashes within a margin of error of 4% at a 95% confidence interval. What sample size do you need?

Answer: 505

Step-by-step explanation:

The formula to find the sample size n , if the prior estimate of the population proportion (p) is known:

n= p(1-p)(\dfrac{z}{E})^2 , where E=  margin of error and z = Critical z-value.

Let p be the population proportion of crashes.

Prior sample size = 250

No. of people experience computer crashes = 75

Prior proportion  of crashes p=\dfrac{75}{250}=0.3

E= 0.04

From z-table , the z-value corresponding to 95% confidence interval = z=1.96

Required sample size will be :

n=0.3(1-0.3)(\dfrac{1.96}{0.04})^2 (Substitute all the values in the above formula)

n= (0.21)(49)^2= 0.21\times2401

n= 504.21\approx505   (Rounded to the next integer.)

∴ Required sample size = 505

5x-5y/4=4x-4/2 Find the equation of the line which passes through the point (10,7) and is perpendicular to the given line. Expre
ElenaW [278]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation of a straight line can be represented in the slope-intercept form, y = mx + c

Where c = intercept

For two lines to be perpendicular, the slope of one line is the negative reciprocal of the other line. The equation of the given line is

(5x-5y)/4= (4x-4)/2

Cross multiplying

2(5x - 5y) = 4(4x - 4)

10x - 10y = 16x - 16

10y = - 6x + 16

y = -6x/10 + 16/10

Comparing with the slope intercept form,

Slope, m = - 6/10

This means that the slope of the line that is perpendicular to it is 10/6

The given points are (10,7)

To determine c,

We will substitute m = 10/6, y = 7 and x = 10 into the equation, y = mx + c. It becomes

7 = 10/6 × 10 + c

7 = 100/6 + c

7 = 50/3 + c

c = 7 - 50/3

c = - 29/3

The equation becomes

y = 10x/6 - 29/3

Given m||n, find the value of x.
loris [4]

Answer:

x = 15

Step-by-step explanation:

The two angles add to a straight line, so they add to 180

6x-5 + 6x+5 = 180

Combine like terms

12x = 180

Divide by 12

12x/12 =180/12

x =15
