Answer:

A solution of Proponic acid is more acidic than ethanol

The Boiling point of propanoic acid is more than ethanol

Explanation:

1.The boiling point of propanoic acid is more than the boiling point of ethanol because of H- bonding.

The electronegative O atom having the lone pair attracts the H of other molecule. Hence the molecules of ethanol show strong intermolecular H-Bonding.

CH3CH2OH-------OHCH2CH3

But in Propanoic acid CH3CH2COOH

This has more extensive H- bonding Because here H-bonding occur from two Oxygen atoms . One is C=O oxygen and other is -OH oxygen.

2.Propanoic acid is more acidic than ethanol because it has acidic Hydrogen . The anion formed after the removal of Hydrogen from Propanoic acid is stabilized by resonance but this does not occur in alcohol. look at the resonance of COO- of carboxylic acids;

Consider a series of molecules in which the C atom is bonded to atoms of second-period elements: C-O, C-F, C-N, C-C, and C-B. Pl
Sati [7]

Answer:

 1. C-B
 2. C-C
 3. C-N
 4. C-O
 5. C-F

Explanation:

As we move along to the right in the same period, the electronegativity and the effective nuclear charge values are higher.

The tendency is that the higher these values are, the shorter the bonds will be.

With that information in mind, and looking at the periodic table, the order would be:

 1. C-B
 2. C-C
 3. C-N
 4. C-O
 5. C-F

Where the C-F bond is the shortest among them.

Chlorine reacts very violently. What about its electron shells makes this the case?
guapka [62]

Answer:

it readily gains another electron. the outer electron shell is closer to the nucleus, than iodine for example, which makes it less shielded (greater attraction for another electron = violent reaction to get it)

Potassium cyanide is a toxic substance, and the median lethal dose depends on the mass of the person or animal that ingests it.
kakasveta [241]

Answer:

The volume will be 89.6875 ml

Explanation:

So to count this we will use a single proportion.

0.0640 mol - 1000 ml

5.74×10−3 mol - x ml

x ml=5.74×10−3 mol*1000 ml/0.0640 mol=89.6875 ml
