I got c which is 100 but I don’t know how jerry got A
Anna007 [38]

Choice C is the correct answer because

\frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(8)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{512-12}{5}\\\\\frac{500}{5}\\\\100\\\\

So in short, \frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}=100\\\\

------------------------------------------

The mistake Jerry likely made was that he only cubed the 2 and didn't realize the 6 was part of that cubing process. It seems he didn't add first and decided to cube before adding.

This is probably what steps Jerry did

\frac{6+2^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{6+8-12}{5}\\\\\frac{14-12}{5}\\\\\frac{2}{5}\\\\

But as mentioned, those steps are incorrect because the 6 is part of the cubing operation. In other words, Jerry should have added the 6+2 first before cubing afterward (due to PEMDAS determining the order of operations).

Or you could think of it like this

\frac{(6+2)^3-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(6+2)(6+2)(6+2)-12}{5}\\\\\frac{(8)(8)(8)-12}{5}\\\\\frac{512-12}{5}\\\\\frac{500}{5}\\\\100

In the diagram of O, m∠JOK = 60° and OJ = 6 in. What is the exact area of the shaded region?
Sophie [7]

Answer:   6π

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

Area of a circle is π r².

Area of a section of a circle is π r² × the section of the circle.

A=\pi r^2\bigg(\dfrac{\theta}{360^o}\bigg)

Given: r = 6, Ф = 60°

A=\pi (6)^2\bigg(\dfrac{60^o}{360^o}\bigg)\\\\\\.\quad =\pi (6)^2\bigg(\dfrac{1}{6}\bigg)\\\\\\.\quad =6\pi

Which of the following can be represented by the equation y = 2x?
KatRina [158]

Answer:

B) Graph B only.

Step-by-step explanation:

Table A is not correct, because:

In Y = 2X, replacing each row:
3 =/= 2 x 2
6 =/= 2 x 4
9 =/= 2 * 6

Table B is correct, because:
When Y is 2, X is 1 which is equal to 2x1.
When Y is 4, X is 2 which is equal to 2x2.

A local little league has a total of 90 players of whom 20% are left-handed. How many left-handed players are there? Please help
german
18

First you want to change the 20% into a decimal which is .20
Next you want to multiply 90 by .20 because that will give you the answer for 20% of 90
90x.20=18

Hope that helps

Polynomial expressions with matching
yuradex [85]

Answer:

The difference of 27x³ and 8y³ → [3x - 2y][9x² + 6xy + 4y²]

The difference of 27x³ and 64y³ → [3x - 4y][9x² + 12xy + 16y²]

The sum of 27x³ and 64y³ → [3x + 4y][9x² - 12xy + 16y²]

The sum of 27x³ and 8y³ → [3x + 2y][9x² - 6xy + 4y²]

Step-by-step explanation:

For the first two, we use the Difference of Cubes [(a³ - b³)(a² + 2ab + b²)] first by taking the cube root of the given expression to get our first factor[s]:

\displaystyle 3x - 2y = \sqrt[3]{27x^3 - 8y^3} \\ 3x - 4y = \sqrt[3]{27x^3 - 64y^3}

Then, use the acronym of SOAP {whether the next operations symbols will be negative or positive [SAME (your cube-rooted factor has an IDENTICAL OPERATION SYMBOL as your given expression), OPPOSITE (the first sign in your second factor in the second set of parentheses will be the opposite of what the sign in your given expression, which will be a plus sign), ALWAYS POSITIVE (the last sign in your second factor in the second set of parentheses will ALWAYS stay positive NO MATTER WHAT)]} to get the second factor:

Given: 27x³ - 64y³

[3x - 4y][9x² + 12xy + 16y²]

↑ ↑ ↑

same as opposite ALWAYS POSITIVE

Now, for the last two, we use the Sum of Cubes [(a³ + b³)(a² - 2ab + b²)] first by taking the cube root of the given expression to get our first factor[s]:

\displaystyle 3x + 2y = \sqrt[3]{27x^3 + 8y^3} \\ 3x + 4y = \sqrt[3]{27x^3 + 64y^3}

Then, use the acronym of SOAP {whether the next operations symbols will be negative or positive [SAME (your cube-rooted factor has an IDENTICAL OPERATION SYMBOL as your given expression), OPPOSITE (the first sign in your second factor in the second set of parentheses will be the opposite of what the sign is in your given expression, which will be a minus sign), ALWAYS POSITIVE (the last sign in your second factor in the second set of parentheses will ALWAYS stay positive NO MATTER WHAT)]} to get the second factor:

Given: 27x³ + 64y³

[3x + 4y][9x² - 12xy + 16y²]

Given: 27x³ + 8y³

[3x + 2y][9x² - 6xy + 4y²]

I am delighted to assist you anytime!

* As you can see, when using the <em>Difference\Sum of Cubes</em>, SOAP can vary depending on how an expression is given to you. They resemble each other though.
