A 531.7-W space heater is designed for operation in Germany, where household electrical outlets supply 230 V (rms) service. What

is the power output of the heater when plugged into a 120-V (rms) electrical outlet in a house in the United States? Ignore the effects of temperature on the heater's resistance.

Answer:

P=144.74W

Explanation:

We can model the power output of a resistance by using the following formula:

P=\frac{V^{2}}{R}

Wehre P is the power output, V is the rms voltage and R is the resistance. The resistance of the space heater will remain the same, so we can calculate it from the power output in Germany and its rms voltage. So when solving for R, we get:

R=\frac{V^{2}}{P}

and we can now use the provided data:

R=\frac{(230V)^{2}}{531.7W}

which yields:

R= 99.49 Ω

Once we know what the heater's resistance is, we can now go ahead and calculate the power outpor of the heater in the U.S.

P=\frac{V^{2}}{R}

so

P=\frac{(120V)^{2}}{99.49\Omega}

P=144.74W

Presence of _______- in retina gives us night vision that is help us to see in dim light.Required to answer. Single choice. Imme
qwelly [4]

Answer: Rods

Explanation:

The rod cells in the retina are the reason we are able to see at night and in dim light. They exist on the edges of the retina which is why they are also very useful for the peripheral vision of a human.

Rod cells number over 90 million in the eyes and although very useful for seeing in dimmer light, they are not very useful for color vision which is why humans see less colors in the dark.

Why is it that the weight of an object weighing 1N air, weighs more when immersed in water ?
Anni [7]
There is no "why", because that's not what happens.  The truth is
exactly the opposite.

Whatever the weight of a solid object is in air, that weight will appear
to be LESS when the object is immersed in water.

The object is lifted by a force equal to the weight of the fluid it displaces.
It displaces the same amount of air or water, and any amount of water
weighs more than the same amount of air.  So the force that lifts the
object in water is greater than the force that lifts it in air, and the object
appears to weigh less in the water.
