Solving proportions is simply a matter of stating the ratios as fractions, setting the two fractions equal to each other, cross-multiplying, and solving the resulting equation. You'll probably start out by just solving proportions, like this: Find the unknown value in the proportion: 2 : x = 3 : 9.

A proportion is just two fractions set equal to each other

So, when solve a proportion, you cross multiply

\frac{x}{3} = \frac{3}{4}

So, multilpy the top of the fraction on the left by the bottom of the fraction on the right

x · 4 = 4x

Now, multiply the bottom of the left by the top of the right

3 · 3 = 9

Now, set these two products equal to each other

4x = 9

Divide by 4 to isolate x

x = \frac{9}{4}

Four times the square of a certain number increased by 6 times the number equals 108.find the number
slamgirl [31]
To effectively determine the correct answer, it would be helpful to write this into an algebraic expression. We let x as the number. We do as follows:

Four times the square of a certain number increased by 6 times the number equals 108.

4x^2 + 6x = 108

The numbers can be either of the following since the equation generated was a quadratic equation which has two roots.
x = 4.5
x = -6

timofeeve [1]

Answer:

3h - 30 > 0

h > 10

Step-by-step explanation:

To make a profit, subtract $36 in cost from the income coming in.

She charges $6 and then $3 per hour or 3h. Her income coming in is 6 + 3h.

Subtract 36 from it to find the profit.

3h + 6 - 36

3h - 30

To make a profit, she needs to make more than $0 or > 0.

3h - 30 > 0

Solve using inverse operations.

3h - 30 > 0

3h > 30

h > 10

An equation is shown below:
Dahasolnce [82]
Part A: first multiply 2 by x and -3, then combine the like terms, after that add 6 from both sides, then subtract 6x from both side, the answer is -5.
4x + 2(x-3) = 4x + 2x - 11
          4x +2x -6 = 4x + 2x - 11
           6x -6 = 6x - 11
           6x = 6x -11 +6
         6x = 6x -5
          6x-6x= -5
         0 = -5
