Divide the 3 from the 3c, and move over towards the 3 on the right side of the equation. 3 ÷ 3 = 1, so c = 1.

You're working with variables. Since the operation is multiplication (a number next to a variable signals multiplication) you do the inverse, or opposite, and divide that by three. The three will cancel it out, but if you divide by three there, you have to do it on the other side. Three divided by three is one!

0 = 4 + n/5 two step equations
Serjik [45]

Answer: n= -20?

Step-by-step:

Simplify both sides of the equation

1/5n+4=0

Then subtract 4 from both sides

1/5n + 4 - 4 = 0 - 4

1/5n= -4

Then multiply both sides by 5

5*(1/5n)=5*(-4)

Suppose that events a and b are mutually exclusive with p(a) = ½ and p(b) = ⅓.
irina1246 [14]
No, a & b are not independent if they're mutually exclusive.

Mutually exclusive means the two events cannot occur simultaneously. So if "a" happens "b" cannot. In contrast, two events are independent if the occurrence of one has no effect on the occurrence of the other.

13/8 = 1 5/8

Since 13/8 = 1 5/8, A and B cannot be correct.

5/8 > 1/2

Since 5/8 > 1/2, 13/8 is closer to 2 than to 1. Therefore, the answer is D. closer to 2 than to 1.
