Answer:

-1066.65  to 2 decimal places.

Step-by-step explanation:

(−800)+(−200)+(−50)+(−12.5)+...

This is a Geometric series with common ratio  r =(-200) / ) / (-800)  = 0.25 and first term  a1 = -800.

Sum of n terms = a1 * (1 - r^n) / (1 - r)

Sum of 8 terms = -800 * (1 - 0.25^8) /  (1 - 0.25)

= -800 * 1.333313

= -1066.65.

If f(x) = 3x + 3, g(x) = 3x + 3, and h(x) = x + 3, what is [g o f o h](–5)?
emmasim [6.3K]
The answer would be -6.
Start by substituting -5 into the 'h' function.
h(-5) = -5 + 3 = -2
Now substitute this answer into the 'f' function.
f(-2) = 3(-2) + 3 = -3
now substitute this answer into the 'g' function
g(-3) = 3(-3) + 3 = -6
D is your answer

Prove that root 7 is irrational by the method of contradiction
Alchen [17]

Let assume that \sqrt7 is a rational number. Therefore it can be expressed as a fraction \dfrac{a}{b} wherea,b\in\mathbb{Z} and \text{gcd}(a,b)=1.

\sqrt7=\dfrac{a}{b}\\\\7=\dfrac{a^2}{b^2}\\\\a^2=7b^2

This means that a^2 is divisible by 7, and therefore also a is divisible by 7.

So, a=7k where k\in\mathbb{Z}

(7k)^2=7b^2\\\\49k^2=7b^2\\\\7k^2=b^2

Analogically to a^2=7b^2 ------- b^2 is divisible by 7 and therefore so is b.

But if both numbers a and b are divisible by 7, then \text{gcd}(a,b)=7 which contradicts our earlier assumption that \text{gcd}(a,b)=1.

Therefore \sqrt7 is an irrational number.
