Two long barges are floating in the same direction in still water, one with a speed of 10 km/h and the other with a speed of 20

km/h. While they are passing each other, coal is shoveled from the slower to the faster one at a rate of 1200 kg/min; see Fig. 7-35. How much additional force must be provided by the driving engines of each barge if neither is to change speed? Assume that the shoveling is always perfectly sideways and that the frictional forces between the barges and the water do not depend on the weight of the barges.

At what height from the surface of the earth does the value of acceleration due to gravity be 2.45 m/s square where the radius o
Citrus2011 [14]

Answer:

Explanation: RADIUS OF EARTH = 6400X1000m =

ACC DUE GRAVITY ABOVE SURFACE OF EARTH = g' =2.45 m/s^2

ACC DUE GRAVITY ON SURFACE OF EARTH =g= 9.8 m/s^2

A/C TO FORmULA

g'/g=1-2h/Re

g'/g +2h/Re = 1

2h/Re =1- g'/g

2h= (1- g'/g)Re

2h=(1-2.45 /9.8)

6400X1000

2h = (0.75)6400X1000

2h = 4800000

h= 2400000

A book is sliding along a desk top. Because the book is in motion ,you know that the forces acting on the book are A. Balanced B
Virty [35]
Just because the book is moving doesn't tell you anything about the forces on it, or even whether there ARE any.

Just look at Newton's first law of motion, and this time, let's try and THINK about it too. It says something to the effect that any object continues in constant, uniform MOTION ..... UNLESS acted on by an external force.
