The median has the property of being equal to 1/2 the length of the 2 parallel lines in a trapezoid. In this case. 1/2 [(x + 8) + (5x + 4)] = 24 There is your equation. Now all you have to do is solve it.

1/2 (x + 8 + 5x + 4) = 24 I've removed the inner brackets.
1/2 (6x + 12) = 24 Gathered like terms.
(6x + 12) = 24*2 Multiplied both sides by 2
6x + 12 = 48 removed the brackets.
6x = 48 - 12 subtracted 12 from both sides.
6x = 36 Divide by 6
x = 36/6
x = 6

Find the measure of
Alborosie
Angle B is HALF of the sum of the two angles it intercepts.

Since it intercepts 48 and 142 degrees, simply add them add divide by 2:
B = (48 + 142)/2
B = 190/2
B = 95

The measure of angle B is 95 degrees.

Solve square root of x + square root of x+2 = 2
andrew-mc [135]

The value of x is \frac{1}{4}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

\sqrt{x} +  \sqrt{x + 2} = 2

Rearranging the radical on left side,

\sqrt{x + 2} = 2 - \sqrt{x}

Power on both sides,

(\sqrt{x + 2})^{2}  = (2 - \sqrt{x})^{2}

Simplifying the left,

x + 2 = (2 - \sqrt{x} )^{2}

For the RHS equation, use the property of (a-b)² = (a²-2ab+b²),

=  > x + 2 =  {2}^{2} - (2 \times 2 \sqrt{x}) + ( \sqrt{x})^{2}

Now calculating its powers,

=  > x + 2 = 4 - 4\sqrt{x} + x

Now sending -4√x to the LHS (left side), its sign becomes plus (+),

=  > 4 \sqrt{x} = 4 + x - x - 2

Now the +x and -x will be cancelled,

=  > 4 \sqrt{x} = 4 - 2

=  > 4 \sqrt{x} = 2

Bringing 4 to the right side, it becomes the denominator,

=  >  \sqrt{x} =  \frac{2}{4}

=  >  \sqrt{x} =  \frac{1}{4}

Now powering both sides,

=  > ( \sqrt{x})^{2} = ( \frac{1}{2})^{2}

=  > x =  \frac{1}{4}

Why is this false:
Luba_88 [7]

Answer:

It is false that, if the national economy shrank at an annual rate of 9% per year for three consecutive years then the economy shrank by 27% over the 3-year period, because this percentage does not follow a linear path, but on the contrary, it is calculated exponentially: 9% of each year is calculated on the rest that remained after discounting 9% the previous year.

Thus, if the national economy has a value of 100, after three years it will not have a value of 79, but a value of 75.35, as it arises from the following calculation:

100 x 0.91 ^ 3 = X

100 x 0.753571 = X

75.35 = X
