Answer

a) Angle of incidence i  = 26.7°

Angle of refraction r = 18.3°

From Snell’s law index of refraction of the liquid

n = \dfrac{sin\ i}{sin\ r}

n = \dfrac{sin\ 26.7^0}{sin\ 18.3^0}

      n = 1.43

So, critical angle

C= sin^{-1}(\dfrac{1}{n})

C= sin^{-1}(\dfrac{1}{1.43})

       C = 44.33°

b) Angle of incidence, i = 37.5°

  speed of light in mineral oil , v = 2.17 x 10⁸ m/s

  speed of light in air, c = 3 x 10⁸ m/s

refractive index of the oil

 n = \dfrac{c}{v}

 n = \dfrac{3\times 10^8}{2.17\times 10^8}

  n = 1.38

again using Snell's law

n = \dfrac{sin\ i}{sin\ r}

sin\ r = \dfrac{sin\ i}{n}

sin\ r = \dfrac{sin\ 37.5^0}{1.38}

r = sin^{-1}(0.441)

       r = 26.18°

hence, the angle of refraction is equal to r = 26.18°

Answer:

(a). The critical angle for the liquid when surrounded by air is 44.37°

(b). The angle of refraction is 26.17°.

Explanation:

Given that,

Incidence angle = 26.7°

Refraction angle = 18.3°

(a). We need to calculate the refraction of liquid

Using Snell's law

n=\dfrac{\sin i}{\sin r}

Put the value into the formula

n=\dfrac{\sin 26.7}{\sin 18.3}

n=1.43

We need to critical angle for the liquid when surrounded by air

Using formula of critical angle

C=\sin^{-1}(\dfrac{1}{n})

Put the value into the formula

C=\sin^{-1}(\dfrac{1}{1.43})

C=44.37^{\circ}

(b). Given that,

Incidence angle = 37.5°

Speed of light in mineral v=2.17\times10^{8}\ m/s

We need to calculate the index of refraction

Using formula of index of refraction

n=\dfrac{c}{v}

Put the value into the formula

n=\dfrac{3\times10^{8}}{2.17\times10^{8}}

n=1.38

We need to calculate the angle of refraction

Using Snell's law

n=\dfrac{\sin i}{\sin r}

\sin r=\dfrac{\sin i}{n}

Put the value into the formula

\sin r=\dfrac{\sin 37.5}{1.38}

r=\sin^{-1}(\dfrac{\sin 37.5}{1.38})

r=26.17^{\circ}

Hence, (a). The critical angle for the liquid when surrounded by air is 44.37°

(b). The angle of refraction is 26.17°.

2.) How much momentum does a stationary 5500 kg mass have?
EleoNora [17]

momentum is measured by the product of mass and velocity of the object. As You have mentioned that the body is stationary then the velocity is zero. So the momentum of the body is 0.

hope this helps

A ball with mass of 0.050 kg is dropped from a height of h1 = 1 .5 m. It collides with the floor, then bounces up to a height of
Iteru [2.4K]

Answer:

Explanation:

Impulse of reaction force of floor = change in momentum

Velocity of impact = √ 2gh₁

= √ 2 x 9.8 x 1.5 = 5.4 m /s.

velocity of rebound = √2gh₂

= √ 2x 9.8 x 1

= 4.427 m / s.

Initial momentum = .050 x 5.4 = .27 kg m/s

Final momentum = .05 x 4.427 = .22 kg.m/s

change in momentum = .27 - .22 = .05 kg m/s

Impulse = .05 kg m /s

Impulse = force x time

force = impulse / time

.05 / .015 = 3.33 N.

kinetic energy = 1/2 m v²

Initial kinetic energy = 1/2 x .05 x 5.4²

= 0.729 J

Final Kinetic Energy =1/2 x .05 x 4.427²

= 0.489 J

Change in Kinetic energy =0 .24 J

Lost kinetic energy is due to conversion of energy into sound light etc.

Which of the following is the best name for a compound made from calcium and bromine? (CaBr2) calcium bromide calcium dibromide
8_murik_8 [283]

By definition, we have to:

Calcium Bromide is an inorganic salt formed by granular white crystals that responds to the formula CaBr2.

Calcium bromide has no odor, is colorless and has a bitter taste.

It is obtained by adding Hydrobromic Acid to Calcium Oxide, Calcium Carbonate or Calcium Hydroxide.

The substance that results is then subjected to a crystallization process, which involves evaporating the water.

From here, you get then:

CaBr2.

Answer:

CaBr2 = Calcium bromide.
