Longitudinal waves are similar to transverse waves because they both transfer energy in the form of a wave. They are different bc longitudinal waves move in perpendicular direction towards the source of vibration and transverse waves move in parallel direction towards the source of vibration.

Answer:

Both waves have some common features

Explanation:

Following features are similar in longitudinal and transverse waves:

Both waves are mechanical waves.

Both transport energy without transporting matter.

Particles oscillate about their mean position in both waves.

These waves satisfy the formula:

v=f*λ

Two wheel gears are connected by a chain. The larger gear has a radius of 8 centimeters and the smaller gear has a radius of 3 c
dezoksy [38]

Answer:

B.The linear velocity of the gears is the same. The linear velocity is 432π centimeters per minute.

Explanation:

As we know that the small gear completes 24 revolutions in 20 seconds

so the angular speed of the smaller gear is given as

\omega = 2\pi\frac{24}{20}

\omega = 2.4\pi rad/s

Now we know that the tangential speed of the chain is given as

v = r \omega

so we have

v = (3 cm)(2.4\pi)

v = 7.2 \pi cm/s

v = 432\pi cm/min

Since both gears are connected by same chain so both have same linear speed and hence correct answer will be

B.The linear velocity of the gears is the same. The linear velocity is 432π centimeters per minute.

lina2011 [118]

Answer:

2 Hz.

Explanation:

Frequency is simply defined as the number of appearances of a periodic event occurring per time. It is usually measured in cycles/second.

Now, in this question, we are told that there are 2 cycles for each second.

Thus, we can say that the frequency is 2 cycles/1 s = 2 Hz.

A body moves due north with velocity 40 m/s. A force is applied
marshall27 [118]

Answer:

the direction of rate of change of the momentum is against the motion of the body, that is, downward.

The applied force is also against the direction of motion of the body, downward.

Explanation:

The change in the momentum of a body, if the mass of the body is constant, is given by the following formula:

\Delta p=\Delta (mv)\\\\\Delta p=m\Delta v

p: momentum

m: mass

\Delta v:  change in the velocity

The sign of the change in the velocity determines the direction of rate of change. Then you have:

\Delta v=v_2-v_1

v2: final velocity = 35m/s

v1: initial velocity = 40m/s

\Delta v =35m/s-40m/s=-5m/s

Hence, the direction of rate of change of the momentum is against the motion of the body, that is, downward.

The applied force is also against the direction of motion of the body, downward.
