One long wire carries a current of 30A along the entire x axis. A second long wire carries a current of 40A perpendicular to the

xy plane and passing through a point (0, 4, 0)m. What is the magnitude of the resulting magnetic field at the point y=2.0m on the y-axis?

We will calculate the magnetic field for each of the supplied currents. Recall that the magnetic field is equivalent to the product between the permeability of free space, the current, and the distance. Both have their respective vector direction, so their final magnitude will be the scalar form of the values found,

For the current of 30 A

B = \frac{\mu I}{2 \pi r}

Here,

\mu = Permeability at free space

I = Current

r = Distance between them

B = \frac{(4\pi *10^{-7})(30)}{2\pi (2)}

B = 3*10^{-6}T

For the second current of 40A,

B = \frac{(4\pi *10^{-7})(40)}{2\pi (2)}

B = 4*10^{-6}T

The wire goes through z-direction, then the Magnetic field is in x-direction positive.

Finally the magnitude will be

|B| = \sqrt{(3*10^{-6})^2+(4*10^{-6})^2}

|B| = 5*10^{-6}T

|B| = 5\mu T

What did Rutherford’s model of the atom include that Thomson’s model did not have?
Ksivusya [100]
Rutherford overturned Thomson's model in 1911 with his well-known gold foil experiment in which he demonstrated that the atom has a tiny and heavy nucleus. Rutherford designed an experiment to use the alpha particles emitted by a radioactive element as probes to the unseen world of atomic structure.

If two firecrackers produce a sound level 85dB. What level does the explosion of one firecracker produce?
mars1129 [50]

Level of sound is related to intensity by this equation

L = 10 Log \frac{I}{I_o}

given that

L = 85 dB

also we know that

I_o = 10^{-12} W/m^2

now we have

85 = 10 Log \frac{I}{10^{-12}}

By solving above equation

I = 10^{8.5} * 10^{-12}

I = 3.16 * 10^{-4} W/m^2

now above is the intensity due to two firecrackers and if we wish to find the sound level of one firecracker then we will find its half level intensity

I_1 = \frac{I}{2}

I_1 = 1.58 * 10^{-4}

now again by above formula

L = 10 Log \frac{1.58 * 10^{-4}}{10^{-12}}

L = 82 dB
