A tank whose bottom is a mirror is filled with water to a depth of 20.1 cm . A small fish floats motionless 6.20 cm under the su

rface of the water. A) What is the apparent depth of the fish when viewed at normal incidence to the water?
Express your answer in centimeters. Use 1.33 for the index of refraction of water.
B) What is the apparent depth of the reflection of the fish in the bottom of the tank when viewed at normal incidence?
Express your answer in centimeters. Use 1.33 for the index of refraction of water.

Answer:

A) 4.66 cm

B) 25.56 cm

Explanation:

A) real depth of fish = 6.2 cm

apparent depth =d

Now \frac{6.2}{d}= 1.33

d = \frac{6.2}{1.33}

d = 4.66 cm

B) Image of fish will be formed 13.9 cm behind the mirror so its position from

surface of water will be

20.1 + 13.9 = 34 cm . This will be real depth of image

If D be its apparent depth then

\frac{34}{D}=1.33

D =\frac{34}{1.33}

D = 25.56 cm

The front and rear sprockets on a bicycle have radii of 8.40 and 4.91 cm, respectively. The angular speed of the front sprocket
Rudik [331]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Radius of the front sprockets, r_f=8.4\ cm=0.084\ m

Radius of the rear sprockets, r_r=4.91\ cm=0.0491\ m

The angular speed of the front sprocket is 12.3 rad/s, \omega_f=12.3\ rad/s

(a) Linear speed of the front sprockets, v_f=r_f\times \omega

v_f=0.084\times 12.3

v_f=1.0332\ m/s

v_f=103.32\ cm/s

Linear speed of the rear sprockets, v_r=r_r\times \omega

v_r=0.0491\times 12.3

v_r=0.60393\ m/s

v_r=60.393\ cm/s

(b) Let a_r is the centripetal acceleration of the chain as it passes around the rear sprocket.

a_r=\dfrac{v_r^2}{r_r}

a_r=\dfrac{(60.393)^2}{0.0491}

a_r=74283.39\ m/s^2

a_r=7428339\ cm/s^2

`Hence, this is the required solution.

The length of a bicycle pedal arm is 0.177 m, and a downward force of 145 N is applied to the pedal by the rider. What is the ma
kramer

Answer:

(a) 19.25 N-m

(b) 25.67 N-m

(c) 0 N-m

Explanation:

Given:

Length of the pedal arm (L) = 0.177 m

Downward force (|\vec{F}|) = 145 N

Magnitude of torque is given by the formula:

T=FL\sin\theta

Where, \theta\to angle\ between\ F\ and\ L

(a)

Given:

\theta=48.6°

Therefore, torque is given as:

T=FL\sin\theta\\\\T=(145\ N)(0.177\ m)(\sin(48.6))\\\\T=19.25\ Nm

Therefore, the torque is 19.25 N-m.

(b)

Given:

\theta=90°

Therefore, torque is given as:

T=FL\sin\theta\\\\T=(145\ N)(0.177\ m)(\sin(90))\\\\T=25.67\ Nm

Therefore, the torque is 25.67 N-m.

(c)

Given:

\theta=180°

Therefore, torque is given as:

T=FL\sin\theta\\\\T=(145\ N)(0.177\ m)(\sin(180))\\\\T=0\ Nm

Therefore, the torque is 0 N-m.

If The dimensions of a brick that weighs 25N are 0.19m x 0.07m x 0.095m. What pressure does the brick exert on the ground if it
valina [46]
1 newton per square meter = 1 pascal of pressure.

The largest face of the brick is (0.19 x 0.095) = .01805 square meter

25N/0.01805 = 1,385 newtons per square meter = 1,385 pascal  = 1.385 kPa
