A 8.5-liter sample of a gas has 1.2 mole of the gas. if 0.65 mole of the gas is added, what is the final volume of the gas? temp
stira [4]

13 liters is the correct answer

13 liters is the final volume of the gas when the temperature and pressure remain constant.

v1/n1 = v2/n2

where,

v1 = initial volume = 8.5 liter

n1= initial mole of gas = 1.2 mole

n2= final mole of gas = 1.2+0.65= 1.85 mole

v2= final volume = ?

8.5 L/1.2 mol = v2/1.85 mol

7 L x 1.85 mol = v2/1.85 mol x 1.85 mol

13 L = v2

v2= 13 liter

What is a mole?

 • A mole is an SI unit used to measure significant numbers of subatomic particles, such as atoms, molecules, or smaller particles.
 • Any substance has an Avogadro number of molecules in a mole.
 • The value of the Avogadro number is 6.02214076 × 10^{23}.

How much is a mole of gas?

22.4 L

At STP (Standard Temperature and Pressure = 0 °C, 1 atm), an ideal gas has a volume of 22.41 L/mol.

What makes something a mole?

 • Chemists use the term "mole" because atoms, molecules, and other particles are all very small and require a large amount to even weigh them.
 • A mole is a measurement of the number of particles present, not their mass.

Answer:

In homeothermic (“warm-blooded”) animals, body temperature is carefully

regulated. The hypothalamus, located in the brain, acts as the master ther-

mostat to keep body temperature constant to within a fraction of a degree

Celsius in a healthy animal. If the body temperature starts to deviate much

from the desired constant level, the hypothalamus causes changes in blood

flow and initiates other processes, such as shivering or perspiration, to bring

the temperature back to normal. What evolutionary advantage does a con-

stant body temperature give the homeotherms (e.g., birds and mammals)

over the poikilotherms (e.g., reptiles and insects), whose body temperatures

are not kept constant? What are the disadvantages?
