Answer:

17.41% to the nearest hundredth.

Explanation:

The relative atomic mass of Carbon is

The relative molecular mass of Al(CO3)^3 is  26.982 + 3(12.011+ 3*15.999)

= 207.006.

So % C in Aj(CO3)3 =  (3 * 12.011) / 207.006) * 100

= 17.41%.

In the reaction BaCO3 + 2HNO3 + Ba(NO3)2 + CO2 + H2O, what mass of Ba(NO3)2 can be formed by combining 55 g BaCO3 and 26 g HNO3
Nataliya [291]

From the stoichiometry of the reaction, the mass of barium nitrate produced is 54.9 g.

Stoichiometry

The term stoichiometry refers to mass - volume relationships. Stoichiometry can be used to calculate the amount, mass or volume of reactants and products from the balanced reaction equation.

The equation of the reaction is written as follows;

BaCO3 + 2HNO3 ------>  Ba(NO3)2 + CO2 + H2O

Number of moles of BaCO3  = 55 g/197.34 g/mol = 0.28 moles

Number of moles of HNO3 = 26 g/63.01 g/mol = 0.41 moles

From the reaction equation;

1 mole of BaCO3 reacts with 2 moles of HNO3

0.28 moles of BaCO3 reacts with 0.28 moles ×  2 moles/1 mole = 0.56 moles

There is not enough HNO3 hence it is the limiting reactant.

Number of moles of Ba(NO3)2 produced  is obtained from;

2 moles of HNO3  yields 1 mole of Ba(NO3)2

0.41 moles of HNO3  yields 0.41 moles × 1 mole/2 moles

= 0.21 moles of Ba(NO3)2

Mass of  Ba(NO3)2  = 0.21 moles  × 261.337 g/mol = 54.9 g

what is the difference between a magnesium atom and a magnesium ion? explain the number of protons, neutrons and electrons and t
ira [324]
A magnesium atom is a neutral atom where the number of protons and electrons are the same. A magnesium ion has a positve 2 charge since it will lose two of its electrons when it undergoes ionic bonding. Since it's the same element it will still have the same amount of 12 protons. For isotopes of magnesium, they will have differing amounts of neutrons and thus a difference in the mass number since neutrons have a mass of about 1

There are many minerals which contain silver. A 2.00 g sample of one of these, stephanite, is placed in water and all of its sil
Nata [24]

Answer:

68.3%

Explanation:

First, let us look at the equation of reaction involving silver and magnesium chloride:

2Ag + MgCl2 ----> 2AgCl + Mg

1 mole of MgCl2 is required to precipitate 2 moles of Ag completely from the solution. That is a ratio of 1 to 2.

Now, mole of MgCl2 used to precipitate all the Ag

             = molarity x volume

                      = 2.19 M x 2.89/1000

                         = 0.0063291 mole

Since 1 mole of MgCl2 would always require 2 moles of Ag, 0.0063291 mole will therefore require:

      0.0063291 x 2 = 0.0126 mole of Ag

This means that 0.0126 mole of Ag is present in stephanie.

Mass of silver in stephanie = mole x molar mass

                              = 0.0126 x 107.8682

                                      = 1.365 g

Thus, 1.365 g of silver is present in 2.00 g sample of stephanie.

Mass percent of silver in stephanie = 1.365/2.00 x 100

                                         = 68.25% = 68.3% to the correct number of significant figure.
