You are driving home from school steadily at 65mph for 130 miles. It then begins to rain, and you slow down to 55mph. You arrive

home after driving 3 hours and 22 minutes. How far is your hometown from school?
I'm not looking for an answer, just some guidance. Like what formula(s) to use.

Answer: 204.8\ miles

Explanation:

Remember that:

V=\frac{d}{t}

Where "V" is the speed, "d" is the distance and "t" is the time.

You are are driving home from school steadily at 65 miles per hour for 130 miles, then we can find the driving time at  65 miles per hour:

V_1=\frac{d_1}{t_1}\\\\65\ \frac{mi}{h}=\frac{130\ mi}{t}\\\\t_1=\frac{130\ mi}{65\ \frac{mi}{h}}\\\\t_1=2\ h

You slow down to 55 miles per hour and you arrive home after driving 3 hours and 22 minutes, then we need to find the driving time at  55 miles per hour. But first you need to convert 22 minutes to hours:

(22\ min)(\frac{1\ h}{60\ min})=0.36\ h

Since the total time is:

t_{total}=t_1+t_2

We can calculate t_2:

t_2=t_{total}-t_1\\\\t_2=(3\ h+0.36\ h)-2\ h\\\\t_2=1.36\ h

In order to calculate the distance from that point (where you slow down to 55 iles per hour) to your home, we need to solve for d_2 from the following formula and substitute values:

V_2=\frac{d_2}{t_2}\\\\V_2*t_2=d_2\\\\d_2=(55\ \frac{mi}{h})(1.36\ h)\\\\d_2=74.8\ mi

Therefore, the distance between your hometown and your school is:

d_{total}=d_1+d_2\\\\d_{total}=130\ mi+74.8\ mi\\\\d_{total}=204.8\ mi

A rock falls off a cliff that is 82 m high. How fast is the rock moving when it hits the ground?
drek231 [11]

Answer:

40.1m/s

Explanation:

This is a kinematics problem

x = 82m

a = -9.8m/s^2

v(initial) = 0

Find: v(final)

Using kinematics equation:

vf^2 = vi^2 + 2a(delta)x

vf^2 = 0 + 2*(-9.8)*(82)

vf = sqrt(1607.2) = 40.09m/s

The is traveling with a velocity of 40.1m/s when it hits the ground.

Elodia [21]

Answer:

a.2.5x 10^3 m/s

b.mr=48kg/s

Explanation:

A rocket is moving away from the solar system at a speed of 7.5 ✕ 103 m/s. It fires its engine, which ejects exhaust with a speed of 5.0 ✕ 103 m/s relative to the rocket. The mass of the rocket at this time is 6.0 ✕ 104 kg, and its acceleration is 4.0 m/s2. What is the velocity of the exhaust relative to the solar system? (B) At what rate was the exhaust ejected during the firing?

velocity of the exhaust relative to the solar system

velocity of the rocket -velocity of the exhaust relative to the rocket.

7.5 ✕ 103 m/s-5.0 ✕ 103 m/s

2.5x 10^3 m/s

. b  we will look for the thrust of the rocket

T=ma

T=6.0 ✕ 104 kg*4.0 m/s2

T=2.4*10^5N

f=mass rate *velocity of the exhaust

T=2.4*10^5N=mr*5.0 ✕ 10^3 m/s

mr=2.4*10^5N/5.0 ✕ 10^3

mr=48kg/s

An example of convection and conduction within a BBQ. I also accept diagrams but please write honestly or I will report.
qwelly [4]
Conduction could be the way in which heat is transferred through a sausage to get it up to cooked temperature. convection could be the air around the barbecue and the smell of the barbecue being carried on thermal convection currents. hope this is honest enough

12 Write a difference between FPS<br>and CGS unit system of unit.
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

CGS means Centimeter Gram Second while FPS means Foot Pounds Second

Explanation:

FPS is the standard used to measurement of length, mass and time. The unit of length is foot.

The time is calculated as the unit of seconds. CGS is the measurement of length, mass and time in units of centimeter, gram and second respectively
