You drop a stone from rest into a well that is 5.2m deep. How long does it take before you hear the splash?

Physics

Leto [7]3 years ago

Answer:

So after 1.0301 sec we hear the splash

Explanation:

We have given that height of the well h = 5.2 m

As the stone is dropped from rest so initial velocity u = 0 m/sec

Acceleration due to gravity g=9.8m/sec^2

We have to find the time

From second equation of motion we know that

h=ut+\frac{1}{2}gt^2

5.2=0\times t+\frac{1}{2}\times 9.8\times t^2

t^2=1.061

t = 1.0301 sec

A rock is thrown upward from the level ground in such a way that the maximum height of its flight is equal to its horizontal ran
marshall27 [118]

Answer

a) For the rock

\dfrac{v_t^2sin 2\theta}{g} = \dfrac{v_t^2sin^2\theta}{2g}

2sin\thetacos\theta = \dfrac{sin^2\theta}{2}

2cos\theta = \dfrac{sin\theta}{2}

tan\theta = 4

\theta = tan^{-1} 4

\theta = 76^0

b) \theta = 45^0 for maximum range

\dfrac{d_{max}}{d}=\dfrac{(v_tcos 45^0)(2v_tsin 45^0)g}{(v_tcos 76^0)(2v_tsin 76^0)g}

\dfrac{d_{max}}{d}=\dfrac{0.707\times 0.707)}{0.97\times 0.242}

\dfrac{d_{max}}{d}=2.129

d_{max}=2.129 d

c) The value of θ is the same on every planet as g divides out.

mechanical equivalent of heat Do the data for the second part of the experiment support or refute the second hypothesis
Ksivusya [100]
  • The data for the first part of the experiment support the first hypothesis.
  • As the force applied to the cart increased, the acceleration of the cart increased.
  • Since the increase in the applied force caused the increase in the cart's acceleration, force and acceleration are directly proportional to each other, which is in accordance with Newton's second law.

When we state something about the results on the basis whether the observed data supports the original hypothesis, we say that we are concluding the results.

What is the relationship between force and acceleration based on Newton's 2nd law?

Newton's second law of motion can be formally stated as follows: The acceleration of an object as produced by a net force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the net force, in the same direction as the net force, and inversely proportional to the mass of the object.
