Answer:

105 mg

Explanation:

The following data were obtained from the question:

Original amount (N₀) = 420 mg

Half life (t½) =20 days

Time (t) = 40 days

Amount remaining (N) =..?

Next, we shall determine the rate constant K, for the disintegration.

This can be obtained as follow:

Half life (t½) =20 days

Rate constant (K) =?

K = 0.693/ t½

K = 0.693/20

K = 0.03465 /day

Finally, we shall determine the amount remaining after 40 days as follow:

Original amount (N₀) = 420 mg

Rate constant (K) = 0.03465 /day

Time (t) = 40 days

Amount remaining (N) =..?

Log(N₀/N) = kt/2.3

Log (420/N) = (0.03465 x 40)/2.3

Log (420/N) = 1.386/2.3

Log (420/N) = 0.6026

420/N = antilog (0.6026)

420/N = 4

Cross multiply

420 = N x 4

Divide both side by 4

N = 420/4

N = 105 mg

Therefore, the amount remaining after 40 days is 105 mg.

Compare urban and rural land .how are each used?
Ksivusya [100]

Answer:

"Urban area is used for the buildings, industries etc, whereas the rural areas are used for cultivation, forest cover etc."

Explanation:

When we talk about the urban land they are mostly covered with buildings, industries, roads and apartments and also the municipal structures. But when we talk about the rural land it has less dense population with forest cover, agricultural lands, rangeland and also different land cover type. In the urban areas the population density is very high. Those areas that located in the outskirt of the town are the rural areas.

Which process transfers heat from the ground to the air touching it? Conduction Convection Evaporation Radiation
Delicious77 [7]

Convection

Explanation:

Heat is a form of thermal energy borne as result of thermal energy. It is observed as temperature differences between places.

There are different types of heat transfer:

  • Conduction
  • Convection
  • Radiation

Conduction is a heat transfer which involves the actual movement of the collision of the molecules of the medium.

Convection is a heat transfer in fluids by their movement from areas of higher to places of lower heat.

Radiation is heat transfer using electromagnetism and does not involve molecules of the medium

The process of heat transfer from ground to the air touching it is convection. It involves particles of the air.
