Lucia wants to develop a process for dyeing shirts so that the color will not fade when the shirt is washed. She proceeds with t

he following activities:
1. Lucia notices that the dye in a design fades when the shirt is washed.
2. Lucia decides that the dye needs something to help it combine with the fabric.
3. She places a spot of dye on each of four shirts and then places each one separately in water, salt water, vinegar, and baking soda and water.
4. After one hour, all the shirts are removed and washed with a detergent.
5. Lucia notices that the dye has faded on the shirts in water, salt water, and baking soda, while the dye did not fade on the shirt soaked in vinegar
6. Lucia thinks that the vinegar binds with the dye so it does not fade when the shirt is washed.

Answer:

1. This is an observation

2. This is her Hypothesis

3. This is part of her Experiment

4. This is part of her Experiment

5. This is an observation.

6. This is her Theory

Explanation:

To solve this problem you have to understand the differences and relationships between the concepts of observation, hypothesis, experiment and theory.

An observation is something that you see is ocurring in nature or in any system. Also, it describes things that you see as results of an experiment. For example Lucia saw that the dye in a design fades when the shirt was washed and that this not happened when the shirt was soaked in vinegar.

A hypothesis is a paragraph that suggest why the process that you described in your observation is happening. For example Lucía thought that the dye needs something to help it combines with the fabric. This hypothesis needs to be verified.

An experiment is a procedement that you employ to test your hypothesis, to verify it. For example the assay developed by Lucía in which shirts were subjected to different liquids.

Finally a Theory, is a complete explanation of the observation and hypothesis suggested and evaluated trough experimentation. Is the result or conclusion after ejecution of all previous steps. For example, Lucía hinks that the vinegar binds with the dye so it does not fade when the shirt is washed

What volume of 0.160 m li2s solution is required to completely react with 130 ml of 0.160 m co no3 2?
Over [174]
The  volume  of  0.160    m   Li2S  solution  required  to  completely  react  with  130 ml  of 0.160  CO(NO3)2  is calculated   as  below

write the  reacting  equation

Co(NO3)2 +  Li2S = 2LiNO3  +  COS

find the    moles  of CO(NO3)2  = molarity  x  volume

=  130 ml  x  0.160=20.8  moles

since the reacting moles between CO(NO3)2  to LiS  is   1:1  the  moles of LiS  is  also  20.8  moles

volume  of Lis  is  therefore =  moles of Lis/ molarity  of LiS

=  20.8/0.160 =  130 Ml

The dimensions of a cupboard are 1.31 m wide
Mnenie [13.5K]

Answer:

The volume of cupboard is 2.0043 m³.

Explanation:

Given data:

width of cupboard = 1.31 m

length of cupboard = 0.9 m

height of cupboard = 1.70 m

Volume = ?

Solution:

Volume = length × width × height

Volume = 0.9 m × 1.31 m × 1.70 m

Volume = 2.0043 m³

The volume of cupboard is 2.0043 m³.

According to table g, which substance forms an unsaturated solution when 80. grams of the substance are stirred into 100. grams
e-lub [12.9K]

A saturated solution is one in which no more solute is able to dissolve in a given solvent at a particular temperature. Some amount of the solute is left undissolved in the solution.

Unsaturated solution has solute in lower proportions than required to form a saturated solution.

Supersaturated solution has solute in amounts greater than a saturated solution.

We can take the help of solubility curve in order to find out the amount of a salt required to prepare a saturated solution of that salt at a particular temperature.

The solubility of KI at 10^{0}C is 136 g/ 100 mL water

The solubility of KNO_{3} at 10^{0}C is 21 g/100 mL water.

The solubility of NaNO_{3} at 10^{0}C is 80 g/100 mL water.

The solubility of NaCl at 10^{0}C is 38 g/ 100 mL water.

So the correct answer will be KI, as it would need 136 g KI / 100 mL water to form a saturated solution at 10^{0}C.So, if we have 80g KI/ 100mL water it would be an unsaturated solution.

6832 J of heat energy is applied to 5.9 mol of water. If the original temperature of the water was 18.60C, the final temperature
sineoko [7]

Answer: The final temperature of the water will be 34.0^0C

Explanation:

The quantity of heat required to raise the temperature of a substance by one degree Celsius is called the specific heat capacity.

Q=m\times c\times \Delta T

Q = Heat absorbed=6832 Joules

m= mass of water = 5.9mol\times 18g/mol=106.2g

c = specific heat capacity = 4.184J/g^0C

Initial temperature of the water = T_i = 18.6^0C

Final temperature of the water = T_f  = ?

Putting in the values, we get:

6832=106.2\times 4.184\times (T_f-18.6)

T_f=34.0^0C

The final temperature of the water will be 34.0^0C
