Answer:

a. Wave 2 has the greater intensity. b. Intensity for wave 1, I₁ = 3.59 × 10⁻⁸ W/m². Intensity for wave 2, I₂ = 268.6 W/m²

Explanation:

Here is the complete question

Electromagnetic wave 1 has a maximum electric field of E₀ = 52 V/m, and electromagnetic wave 2 has a maximum magnetic field of B₀ = 1.5 µT.

(a) Which wave has the greater intensity?

wave 1 OR wave 2 ?

(b) Calculate the intensity of each wave.

__________? W/m² (wave 1)

__________? W/m² (wave 2)

Solution

a. E₀ = 52 V/m for wave 1, B₀ = E₀/c = 52 V/m ÷ 3 × 10⁸ m/s = 1.73 × 10⁻⁹ T = 0.00173 μT.

Since for wave 1, B₀ = 0.00173 μT and for wave 2, B₀ = 1.5 µT and Intensity is proportional to B₀², so, wave 2 has the greater intensity.

b. Intensity for wave 1, I₁ = ¹/₂cε₀E₀² = ¹/₂ × 3 × 10⁸ × 8.854 × 10⁻¹² × 52² = 3.59 × 10⁻⁸ W/m²

Intensity for wave 2, I₂ = ¹/₂cB₀²/μ₀ = ¹/₂ × 3 × 10⁸ × (1.5 × 10⁻⁶)² ÷ (4π × 10⁻⁷) = 268.6 W/m²

A car of mass m, traveling at constant speed, rides over the top of a round hill. How do the normal force of the road on the car
dybincka [34]

Answer:

The normal force will be lower than the gravitational force acting on the car. Therefore the answer is N < mg, which is option B.

Explanation:

Over a round hill, the centripetal force acting toward the the radius of the hill supports the gravitational force (mg) of the car. This notion can be expressed mathematically as follows:

At the top of a round hill

Normal force = Gravitational force - centripetal force

At the foot of a round hill

Normal Force = centripetal force + Gravitational force

A vw beetle goes from 0 to 60 mi/h with an acceleration of 2.35 m/s^2.
Vlad1618 [11]
Part a.
u = 0, the initial velocity
v = 60 mi/h, the final velocity
a = 2.35 m/s², the acceleration.

Note that
1 m = 1609.34 m.
Therefore
v = (60 mi/h)*(1609.34 m/mi)*(1/3600 h/s) = 26.822 m/s
Use the formula
v = u + at
(26.822 m/s) = (2.35 m/s²)*(t s)
t = 26.822/2.35 = 11.4 s

Answer: 11.4 s

Part b.
We already determined that v = 60 mi/h = 26.822 m/s.
t = 0.6 s
Therefore
(26.822 m/s) = (a m/s²)*(0.6 s)
a = 26.822/0.6 = 44.7 m/s²

Answer: 44.7 m/s²

Two things that electrical force depends upon?
lidiya [134]
Electric force depends on the charge and the strength of the electric field. The equation that relates the three:

F = Eq where q is the charge and E is the electric field strength.
